"I've Failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed". Michael Jordan
Good morning all, hope that you have had a great week! Wish I could say this is an upbeat note, but it has been a hell of a week for me.
On Saturday, I took Dad out to dinner. When we were leaving, he will not take the ramp, insist that he can go over the curb. When he did he forgot to put his brakes on and fell. It scared me so badly, but thankfully a man came running and helped him up and we got him in the car. He swore he was fine. Got him home and called Lana. He was bruised on his knee's and had a cut on his hand. But he was fine, I was falling apart! Thankfully he didn't break anything but has complained about his ribs every since. He was ex-rayed and no broken bones.
On Monday, I took him to the wound center and they did a skin graph on his leg. Hopefully it will start to heal, but I think we will be doing this for the rest of his life.
When I got home on Monday Bill was complaining of a swollen tongue and a sore throat. I tried to convince him I should take him to the VA...but he wouldn't have it. So I called the VA and the nurse suggested that he go to the emergency room. No, he would not do it. At 3 am on Tuesday he was ready to go!
He was not there long when they told him he had pneumonia. It turned out that he had a bad valve in his heart and it was pouring out blood into his system. He also had a cyst in his mouth, that could only be treated with antibiotics. They wanted him to go to rehab when they released him on Thursday but he got it in his mind that I wanted to get rid of him and put him in a nursing home and would not go. He wanted to come home! Of course any surgery that he might have will have to be left to the VA. Bill will be 85 on the 12th of Feb, and wants to do what he wants to do. The Dr. said no beer, but that was one of the first things he did when he got home. I have done all that I can do and will continue to do so, so I have made up my mind I can only leave it in God's hands.
They tried to deliver my new computer on Wed., and Thursday, and I finally got it on Friday. I am excited about that and Shari is going to come on Sunday and get it set up for me.
The other great thing that happen for me this week was I got my dryer vent blown out! I have tried to get Bill to get someone to do it and he kept putting it off. I asked Nancy's Steve if he would do it while Bill was in the hospital and it didn't look like it would happen. But he came over on Thursday while we were still at the hospital and did it. What a blessing that was, now the dryer works fine and dries like it is suppose to. He got so much crap out there you would not believe it!
Update on my dear friend Bet's niece Johanna. This from Bet...."My niece, at this time, is undergoing amputation of her left hand fingers. Not sure at this time what portions of the fingers they will be removing. Will let you know when I know. Too, not sure as to when they will remove the fingers on the right hand, but do know it will be forthcoming. They just do not want to do both at the same time and also, to see how much of the hyperbaric chamber treatments is assisting with tissue on the hands."
Many of you have asked about sending her a card if you would like to do so here is her address. Integris Baptist Medical Center, Attn: Johnna Campbell, Room #1085, 3300 N.W. Expressway,Oklahoma City, OK 73112
Cousin Elaine Armstrong (Uncle Omar's daughter) had surgery yesterday. She had a tumor on her kidney but thank the good Lord they got it all and was able to save her kidney!
Today is the big baby shower for Kyle and Erica in MA. The baby is due in March and all is going well. I would have loved to go but as things turned out it was good that I didn't.
Sister Helen has decided to have a house built in NM so she can be close to her son Dean. They won't start until April on it.
Krista did not get the job that she was interviewed for but the good news is she is going for another interview on Tues. Lets all keep our fingers crossed for her.
Since I was advised to go on with my life just as it was, since Bill was going to do what he wanted....Diana and I went to the Vestry Dinner last night. Everything was great, and was able to get to know some people better. The only thing bad about a sit down dinner is you only get to know a few people better.
Anyway to make a long story short..we didn't get home until almost 11 and I need all the beauty sleep I can get so that is why this is late getting out.
Bill planted tomatoes a while ago and today I pick six from the plants. Love tomatoes don't you?
Don't think I can dig up anymore depressing news so I guess that is it for this week.
Have a great week and remember no one loves you like you do!
Lots of Love
a (aa) g~
