October 15, 2011
Good morning all, hope that you have had a great week! After bragging how nice the weather was here last week, we got hit with a no name storm over the week-end. It was like a hurricane, and what a mess it left for us to clean up. Thankfully we are on a sand ridge and we were not left with standing water but many were. My front yard was a mess, lots of broken limbs and branches laying all over the yard. The wind was blowing from at some points over fifty miles an hour. On Saturday the only place I went was to deliver some food to the church and when I got there they didn't have electric. Did not go to Dad's because the weather was just to bad. Sunday I went to church and the weather continued to be bad. But I went to Dad's anyway. We did not go out to eat because I thought the weather was too bad for him, went and picked up a steak for him. I really was quite concerned about the road coming home, lots of traffic lights were out quite dangerous to be out on the road. Thankfully I made it home safe with no issues.
On Monday it was not quite so bad but I was still not ready to go out. But did go to the grocery store. What a mess so many of my neighbor's have water right up to there door. Those people that have horses found higher ground for them. Thankfully "Sally" the horse I feed does have a higher level over there, cause most of the time I don't think anyone cares about her.
Tuesday, the weather returned to normal, thank goodness and I was out in the yard. I have one palm tree that was leaning to the west so that had to be fixed. It took everything I had to pound that stake in the ground! Then one of my hanging hooks was bent heading for the north. Had to get that straighten up plus some of my hanging baskets we knocked down and broke the rims of the big planters. Don't know what in the world I am going to do about that, they look awful. Then there was the mess in the front yard. It took me all day to get all the limbs out to the front as well as fill two big trash cans with broken branches. The big push for that was because the yard pick up is on Wed. Got a lot of it done but still have more to pick up! Got to tell you with all that exercise, I was sure when I got up on Wed.
As I mentioned last week Wed., was Jess birthday and here she is with that sweet baby on her birthday
Speaking of birthday's want to wish a very happy birthday to cousin Blair who will celebrate on the 16th! Then there is my dear friend Shirley who will also celebrate her birthday on the 18th. The best of birthday's to you both!
On Wednesday I had made an appointment with the bug man to spray Dad's house, had to be there at 10. I understand it is a good thing he came that day because they had seen some bugs on the floor. Don't know how they got in because the doors are opened that much. Anyway, it is done and if anyone see's more bug's they should let me know.
Lana it is time to mow the lawn again, will William do it or should we call our friends?
I have a closet full of stuff that I had brought home when I retired. You never know how much you collect until you start to sort it out. It had been on my mind, Dan had crept every utility bill he ever had, why? We certainly don't know but I am talking years...I got to thinking about that and decided I needed to clean out that closet, if you don't think you can collect a bunch of stuff that would only mean something to you, you are sure wrong. My office is a mess....something's I didn't have any trouble getting ride of but for instance's.....decorated my friend Bet's office and put footprints all the way from the entrance of the office to her office....still had the footprints....believe me that is a lot of footprints. Some things I am having a hard time parting with and I have them in a pile. Have filled a big bag with stuff I am going to throw out. But tell me why do I need to keep all the picture that was taken of a string ball I did in my office 20 years ago...but hate to part with them...oh well this is going to be a long project!
Helen is doing well with her knee, she drove for the first time this week. I am so proud of her, know it must be hard being alone and not be able to drive...but she is on her way now.
I told you about the receptionist in Nancy shop that has breast cancer and no insurance...right now the shop is selling those pink braclets trying to raise money for her... She was suppose to have her surgery yesterday, but now there are indications that there is something wrong with her heart. Please keep Debbie Dean in your prayers!
Well I guess I have rambled on long enough, that was my week how was yours? Let me hear from you. Hope you have a great week and remember no one loves you like you do!
Lot's of Love,
