"Instead of giving myself reasons why I can't, I give my reasons why I can. - unknown (I have to do this all the time)

Good morning all, hope that you have had a good week! I am excited, I had three shrubs that I have wanted to have planted for at least two months and on Tuesday, grandson Pat came out and planted them for me! Got to say this made my week. Thanks again Pat!  Now if I can just get my computer fixed I will be all set for awhile.

On Saturday's visit to Dad's we tried a new (new owner) restaurant it is called the River Rock. They have completely redone the place and it is very nice (and expensive) They had a 4-6 menu that we ordered from, which to Dad's eye was still to expensive. The food was good but I must say, it included your salad, main course and desert. We got the desert to go and when we opened it we had to laugh. Greg got key lime which he thought was a pie bit it turned out to be a small glob of Key lime. As Judy and I both agreed that is what you should have but it didn't look like it to me.

On Sunday I went over to help Diana with some of her thank you notes. She has been a busy bee, and is slowly getting on top of what she needs done. They are all taking their loss very hard, and I am sure Dan knows just how much they all loved him and miss him.

Monday was a busy day for the family, Judy & Greg headed home, leaving Dad on his own for the first time in many months. He seems to be handling it very well but really misses the attention.

Helen went in for a partial knee replacement but once they got in there they found she had to have the complete knee. Joyce was there with her and all went well. Talked to her later in the afternoon and she was having lobster roll for dinner! Hospitals have sure changed. It turned out the lobster roll was not as great as she thought it would be :) Everyday she seems to be doing better, Joyce picked her up from the hospital yesterday and she will spend the weekend with them in Calais.

On the 12th I was diagnosed with Age-Related Macular Degeneration. My eye Dr. did not think there was a treatment for it, but made appointment for me to see a retina specialist on the 19th. I spent a week really depressed, to me losing your eye site is right up there high on my list of not wanting to do. The good news is that a treatment of a series of three or four shots in the eye has worked very well in fact there is a 90% chance of stopping it with this treatment, won't cure it but in some cases vision has improved. My retina specialist told me that family history, being over 65 and white with fair skin is what causes this. Anyway, I am on a positive outlook for it and have faith that it will work.

Enough of that! Have been bragging about nephew Rand in the last few "just chatting" and today I continue.

Award Winners Group.jpg
Rand is the 2nd one in on the right! The Maud and Ballington Booth Lifetime Service Award, named for the founders of Volunteers of America, social reformers who pledged to “go wherever we are needed, and do whatever comes to hand.” The award recognizes individuals who have exemplified this commitment to helping others time and again through a lifetime of service. This year’s recipients were Chris Buchanan and Rand Maker, volunteer directors of Volunteers of America’s Camp POSTCARD for 18 and 16 years, respectively, for their service to at-risk Maine 5th and 6th graders. Way to go Rand, wonderful work that you do!!

Want to wish a Happy Birthday tomorrow to two dear friends, J'mee who I am sure is 21 and Elaine who is 22:) The best of birthdays to you both. Then there my favorite son birthday on Monday. The very best to you my love! Happy Birthday Patrick!

Rumor has it he is taking his sister Dawn on a cruse, I think that is wonderful! She works hard and get very little down time. Enjoy your cruse!

Dad is so happy that Dancing with the Stars is back on, the only problem is he misses NCIS on Tuesday. But in the long run it works out, when the reruns start on NCIS it will be new to him.

Took Bill to the VA on Wednesday, usually go to Dad's but had to post pone it for a day. The only good thing that came out of it, is they now have him down for the ear surgery in Orlando also. Although, Bill does not say much about it, I know he is concerned.

Yesterday I found out some bad news. Debbie the receptions at Nancy's shop has breast cancer. She had it 15 years ago and all was looking good until recently. The sad thing is she like Nancy does not have medical insurance. Nancy mentioned that they were going to have some fund raisers for her, but I am sure that will not be enough. Please remember her in your prayers.

Well today we are all going out to spread Dan's ashes. He loved the sea and loved to fish so his ashes will be scattered off a boat.

I guess that is it for this week, please let me hear from you and remember no one loves you like you do!

Lots of Love
a (aa) ~g~
