Friends are those rare people who ask how we are and then wait to hear the answer.' - Ed Cunningham former professional American football player
Good morning all, hope you have had a great last couple of weeks! I tell you the last two weeks that my mind has been lost, my weeds are doing so well! I couldn't believe how many weeds I had in my yard! Although this week with the hurricane coming there was too much time to get out there. Was embarrassed with all the people here and my plants not looking too good but the weeds looked great!
I am sure I am repeating myself with this, but I have always knew there was a lot of wonderful people in the world and I am sorry to say for the most part you are only reminded of that when you are down. My family was just wonderful, they were there at every turn. Which is great for me, many years ago I could have done it myself but not now. Diana was overwhelmed with wonderful people. She is function in a daze, but she is getting everything has done Just reminder at this point ladies if you are not involved in the finances in your family you should be, it comes as quite a shock when you suddenly have to take it over if you don't.
Last Saturday was a nightmare for me, our septic over flowed, we had to get the septic tank out here, it was raining at the time, the truck got stuck and a wrecker had to come pull it out. It tore up my yard in several places, plus they ran over the corner of the apron on the garage. They sent someone over this week to grade the places but they are trying to get out of fixing my apron.
Dan's "Celebration of Life" went very well, we are guessing about 250-300 people attended the service. Although, he had his bad days, he was a very good man, was a wonderful husband, father and friend. He will surly be missed.
Dad is doing well, get down sometimes but is very thankful for his daughters. He is sure if he would have had boys they would not have helped him like we do. He has started sitting outside every morning for about an hour and enjoys doing so. He really isn't into having that Life Line but has finally given in to it. It should be coming this weekend, now we have to see if he will wear it. I think we all feel that he can be on his own for a while longer but we won't leave him until he start wearing it.
We were very lucky that we did not get much of Irene....on a lighter note, that was Mom middle name and we use to sing "good nite Irene" to her I hope that none of you were bothered by Irene but I am sure she has done a lot of damage. I remember in "55" the tail end of a hurricane coming thru Maine, it tore up tree's, took out bridges, it was awful! Please stay safe!
About a month ago, Bill started mentioning that his right eye was blurry. I tried to get him into the VA but could not until Nov. They don't have a waiting list you have to keep calling so when I called on Tuesday they were able to get him in on Wed. A membrane had formed over his eye, the Dr. said it would be able before they could do the procedure. Luckily he seen the Dr. that does that in the hall and went and talked to her. She had several cancellations that day so if we would wait she would do it! We waited, it is done and his eye is back to normal...good news!
Emotional time for Liz, Alex starts college next week. I think it is almost worse than when they start kindergarten.
