February 5, 2011

Good morning all, hope that this has been a great week for you.  The weather here has been great, no complaints at all.  In fact I wish it would stay that way.   I know this hasn't been true for most of you.  Lots of snow, blizzard conditions all the way from the mid west to New England.  Nephew Kyle says there is no place to put the snow, it is piled higher than his head and he is over 6 ft.  Wish I had pictures of that, but I don't.  Do have a few that my friend Lori's cousin  sent  from Chicago .....

Don't that just make you feel warm inside!  As I have said before, loved the snow when I was growing up but it is too much for me to contend with at my age.

Dad and I had dinner last Saturday at the Red Lobster.  Maybe it is just me, but I used to like going there but now everything seems so greasy.  But I won't take it off the list, because we have to rotate.

On Monday evening Bet and I worked the roll out of Discovery.

How impressive.  Looking forward to the February 24th launch

Steve came out and cut up the tree and hauled it off.  He had quite a problem with all the vines.  I am sure they are slowing killing all the tree's.

On Wednesday I went to Dad's.  I am so glad that I finally have him convinced to keep that front door lock.  With the way things are going today you never know what could happen.  Anyway I let myself in, went in the computer room where he was, sit on the stool he was watching one of the many pps files that he has, never heard me....I even cough a couple of times.  As I said I am glad he keeps that door locked!

Lana's friend Shari Mom sent Dad another puzzle.  It isn't a puzzle like you normally do, it is made up of nine card like shapes.  This last one was mallard ducks,  it only took him about three days on this one.  He really feels it is a challenge so I think when Lana runs out of them I will have to start looking.

Talking about Lana, I found this picture on Facebook of her and wanted to share...

He could be helping her study for her next test  Love the picture...she is smiling!

Tuesday Bill and I almost spent the day at the VA.  He had blood work, EKG and x-rays.  Don't know when we will find out  if he passed or not...he is really ready to get those cysts removed.

Bill has been haunting me to do something with the apples that I got to make pies for Christmas. (remember I was sick did not do any pies)  I was dreading it because they are Granny Smith apples and they are great in pies.  So....Thursday I set out to make three apple pies.  I had 16 apples, that is a lot of apples.  I had asked my friend Karen if I could give them to my horse.  Her reply was that too much apples would give her that acid feeling.  But none the less I gave her half of it and the other half I gave to the squirrels.  knowing the way I peel apples I know she got at least two apples out of what I gave her. The horse loved it and did not tarry in eating it.  But now I have a question for all you cooks.  Have made apple pies all my life and never before until the last few times had the center good down and leave a hollow spot under the middle of the pie.  Have you had this?  If so what is the secret to not doing that?

Poor Judy, the snow on her barn has been just hanging there for over a week.  The good news is she wasn't in the car when it came rushing down on top of it!

They are working madly on the new bridge and it looks like it will be finished in time.  But in the mean time we have that delay in getting anywhere.  I have always hated people that butt the line and I am now getting a renewed feeling for them.  Why can't people just wait like everyone else.

Got to tell you the good news.   Remember last week I told you about the timer I bought, Bill could set it, I couldn't set it and the man at Home Depot didn't set it.  So friend Bet said bring it over Don (her husband) will give it a try.  So I took it over Sat, on my way to Dad's.  He thought he had it figured out.....no he didn't.  So I took it back on Sunday and the same story happen.  I was ready to ditch the thing and get a new one.  But he said, No, bring it back one more time and leave it.  Which I did...the thing has 19 setting and I just wanted one to work.  This time I bought it home and plugged it in.  At 6:30 the lights came on and 6:30 am they went off!  Don't know how he did it but it works....He is my Hero!

Want to wish a very happy Anniversary to Blair & Gert on the 7th.   And wonderful Friday Birthday to Liz,  May it be the best 21st birthday ever!

I guess that is about it....Oh one more thing if you got an invite to Stacey's bridal shower...one thing was missing and that was the time.  2:30...I said we could just make it a 24 hour shower

Please have a great week and remember take good care of yourself, cause no one loves you like you do!

Lots of Love
a (aa) ~g~
