November 20, 2010

Good morning all, hope this has been a great week for all of you.  Got to say I didn't get much yard work done this week, and believe me my yard looks it.  The weather here has been right down my alley, about mid 70' to 80.  We are badly in need of rain but don't think we will get much we are now in the dry season.  Already have had brush fires sure hope we don't get any more.

Last Saturday was an exciting day for us at St. Luke's even with all the activities that were going on around Merritt Island we still made over $5,000 on our Holiday Fair.  We had lots of plants,  books lots miscellanies items and lots of home made bake goods as well as lots of food.  I was so pleased all the plants I took sold right away, I think I took about 20 plants.  My friend Elaine that runs the plant sale part of it took about 200.  I have no idea where she puts them, while she is waiting for the fair because I run out of space.  Great plants this year as always.

I got Dad a pecan pie, wasn't sure if he liked it or not, plus lots of cookies.  Friend Elaine made the pecan pie and I was wondering if he liked it.  When I asked him he said he liked the pie, never had anything like it before but it was good!  That is a big deal for him.  He loves Bet's stuff and now I know he like's pecan pie.

Saturday Dad and I had dinner at the Olive Garden and he usually get Lasagna but decided this time to have spaghetti with meat sauce/and sausage.  He really enjoyed it and did a good job on eating most of it.

On Monday I had a local planning meeting and it lasted all of 12 minutes, well maybe a little longer.  This was on the comp plan and giving the right for people that live by the ocean the right to replace any structure that has been damaged by a storm...not private beach site places but those places that give access to the ocean...

I have mentioned many times before how Dad loves Dancing with the Stars.  This week however he was very upset over the person that got eliminated.  When I visited on Wed., that was the greatest part of our conversation.  He said he knew in the past that some of the dancers lasted longer because of their popularity but is very upset that Bristol Palin is still on there...I could go on and on about how he feels about it.  I would hate to see this ruin it for him, he really looks forward to watching it.

With lots of work on Lana's part, Dad can hear somewhat out of his right ear.  He decided he would not go to the Dr. that Lana had made the appointment with.  He looked her up on line and was not happy with what they said about her...........so.........he now has another appointment with another Dr and that is scheduled for the 15th of DEC.  I tried talking to him about getting the phone that lights up when it rings but he wouldn't have anything to do with it.  Oh well, we do what we can...

Thursday I took Bill to the VA in Vi era about his hand.  Don't know why they made an appointment for him if the Dr. was in surgery.  The nurse practioner  said there wasn't much fluid in his hand and it looked like it needed to be removed!  So he has been rescheduled for Tuesday to see the Dr.

Also on Thursday I had my North Merritt Island Zoning meeting.  There was nothing controversial just changing the zoning from 1 acre to agriculture.

Yesterday was Baxley Day and one lady always donated a trunk full of items.  What an angel she is.  We are now trying to fill their Christmas Wish list and although it is hard buying items when you don't know the people I think it is just as hard to just buy a gift card.  I know I would like to know something about the person so I could include a little something with the gift card.  We will have to work on that for next year.  Don't know just how to handle that one.

Good news Todd has an interview with UPS on Tuesday, need to get that guy working even if he is going to school.

Happy anniversary to Diana & Dan on the 22, it will be their 30th...Hope it is a great day!  Then if that isn't enough on the 23 Dan will celebrate his birthday.  The best of Birthdays to you Dan, I can see a lemon pie in your future.  Busy week at the Spell house.

Diana loves to go Black Friday shopping, hates to get up in the morning but on Black Friday she is ready to go...knows just where the best deals are, she has been doing that for years with some of her close friends.  But the sad news is the Post Office is short on help this year and she may have to work, she is very disappointed with that.

Lana is studying hard for her next test on nursing, it is on the 1st.  Got a nice Thanksgiving card from nephew William, which reminds me if you haven't sent Aunt Ruby a card this would be a good time....Phoebe Ruby Watt

A couple of years back you listen to me about my star Todd, well this  year we had another star Alex Michaud...he made the paper as well below you see him with his brother.  What a night that was, Alex is a Senior and this was his last game, it was Ian first game on the varsity.  Talk about proud their Mom Liz & Dad Rik were beaming!

Well I guess that is about it for this week, hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving.  Lots of work for most of us but well worth it!  Please remember to take good care of yourself and remember that no one loves you like you do!!!

Lots of Love
