June 19, 2010

Good morning all, hope that you have had a great week!  The weather here has been quite warm with promises of  rain, someone got it but we surely got very little.

Dad and I dined at the Olive Garden last Saturday, just want to remind you if you drink coffee they give you a pot on your table and it is HOT!  Very important to Dad, that is the only time he drinks coffee

This has been a crazy mixed up week for me....starting with when I got the mail on Sat.  Almost didn't open the letter from the Orlando Express Authority...thought it was junk but oh it wasn't!  I had been sited for running $8.00 worth of tolls on the 16th of May.  I swear I did not know the transponder had a battery!  I have had it for over eight years and never had any problems with it.  Thanks to many people on Face book I found out where it was and how to get it changed!  Oh yes the battery was very dead but couldn't get the mess cleared up until Monday.  When I called (waited on the line long enough to have my breakfast and a 2nd cup of hot choc.) I kept hearing about checking your battery every three to six months...here I have had mine for 8 years.  Anyway the problem was not only the battery but they had flipped the numbers on my licence plate.  It is 007 KSC and they had it KSC 007...why that is important is if the had the number right they have check the licence plate and the money would have been automatically taken out...so I guess it is a good thing it happened I got that taken care of.

Thanks so much for the compliments on my garden, it is much bigger than the picture I showed you but it is my favorite part.  Because I can enjoy the hummingbirds, bee's and butterflies.   I am very upset it looks like my $20 hanging plants that the woman promised me would do great in the hot sun are dying.  Beautiful geraniums, but now they look very sick.  I have repoted them and put them on the front porch where they will just get the morning sun...hope I can save them.   She just lives down the street from me and told me they do well all year long she has them hanging on her fense...I took a ride down there and didn't see one...you can be sure I won't be buying anymore plants at ACE.

Don't know if I mentioned that we had to have some work done on our golf cart...it need six new batteies as well as a new frame for them to set on.  Cost a pretty penny to get it fixed!  On Tuesday I went out to plug it in so it could charge and it wouldn't do anything.  I called the place and the man was very nice he said he would send someone right over...he neglected to tell me there would be a $50 service charge!  They took it off and brought it right back in an hour and half...another $150.  It is convient for me in the yard but I am beginning to wonder if I really need it!

One of Joyce's High School friends moved to Merritt Island last Nov, just found that out last week.  She wanted to see Dad so I picked her up on Wed. so she could visit with him after 40 years.  When Joyce told me the address I knew that it was near Diana but didn't know until I picked her up that she only lives two houses from Diana in fact she is the 2nd house.  Isn't this a small world!

Got this beautiful sunset from Blair....love it  now he will have to send me a sun rise

Joyce has been busy since she arrived.  She has feed the lawn with turf builder and now the neighbor tells her she needs to put top soil on it and put down more seed!   She doesn't do that kind of thing at home but the things we do to help Dad be happy.

Sad news this week one of  Diana's many dogs Chipper had a lump under his front leg the size of a base ball.  She took him to the vet and they did many test but could not determine if it was cancer.  So they scheduled surgery for this last Thursday and when they opened him up it was cancer, in fact it has spread thru his chest.  They decided to just make him comfortable as they can for a while but it is a decision that will have to be made sooner than later...sad.

Got to tell you a funny on Joyce...it seems her son Rand called her (we are all going to his wedding in Sept) and told her that we should be making hotel reservations as soon as we can because "Andrew Jackson" was going to be in Bangor the night before the wedding.   I checked and sure enough Alan Jackson is going to be there on the 10th, tickets range from $133-216.  Like him but I think I am going to miss that one.  Made my reservations anyway

Bill went to the VA Dr. on Thursday and they cut some of his ear lobe of it was cancer.  I am sure it will be fine, but it doesn't stop the worry.

This week Jess & Casey celebrate their 5th wedding anniversary on the 25th!  Want to wish you both the very best!

Want to wish all you Dad's a very Happy Father's Day!

Well I guess that is it for this week, please take good care of yourself, no one does it like you do!  Let me hear from you...been wondering how Aunt Joyce & Uncle Omar are, as well as Aunt Ruby.

Lots of Love
