January 16, 2010

Good Morning all, hope that you have had a great week.  Got to say it has been the coldest that I can remember seeing in a long while.  In fact I think it was like 9 or 10 days straight that we had temps in the 20's.  Needless to say 90% of my plants including my palms have died.  Some of the plants may come back but I really think I have lost my Palms.

Last Saturday, Dad and I had dinner at Applebee's.  It was so cold outside and Dad just has a light weight jacket (he did have a sweater on) so I wanted to go some place that he didn't have to be outside long.  Nice meal, Dad had the shrimp and I think they gave him about 20 shrimp which is way more than he can eat so we had another meal from that one.

When I got up on Sunday morning I really had to argue with myself to go fix drinks at church.  Gosh, it was cold then the argument started again when it came time to go back for church but did both.  There is something about the cold that makes you glow and feel better.

Dean and Helen arrived and stopped for a short visit and was off to Dad's.

On Monday evening I had my Brevard County Planning & Zoning Meeting.  It turned out to be interesting...Had folks that just were shy .3 acres of having Agriculture Zoning and of course they had lots of animals.......among them four hogs!  Someone told them they just could have one hog and that was what was advertised but they really wanted to keep two of them, they had been raised in the house with the dogs and they were pets........After much discussion the item was tabled until March at no cost to them so they could have their two pets!   Of course that was just the high light of the meeting, the rest was all down hill from there.  A new chairman & Vice chairman was voted on as it is each year in Jan.  Not to pleased with the chairman but I was elected Vice Chairman...so I can't complain about that.

Tuesday evening Dean became a chief and cooked a wonderful meal for all of us.  Diana and the girls came over as well as Nancy.  We all had a wonderful visit and was so pleased to have Dean here.  Afterwards I could have kicked myself because no one took pictures!
We were up early on Wed, so Helen could get him to the airport for his flight home.  It was wonderful having him.

Told you about my friend Karen and her horse Boo, we they participate tournament (my mind when black at what they call those things)  in Ocoee - north and east of Orlando.  She rode in the sleet and, at one point, there was ice in my pony's mane. It was nasty and cold and awful - up until the point I won Champion in my division.  So she may have been cold but for a short time there she warmed up.   See below beautiful horse and a great rider!  You notice she even has the right riding stuff on.

Some how Dad deleted stuff from his computer and could not use his key board, he has been working on it for a week at least.  He didn't want to talk to Dell because he could understand the people on the other end (most likely couldn't hear them either)  So Helen took over, she had to copy everything on his computer, then go thru Dell for them to wipe everything out and then put it back in.  That worked great BUT now he had no sound!   So now that is another problem they are working on.

Diana took Cisco to the Vet on Thursday and the news is not good.  The powers that be decided they wouldn't tell Dad that, he now has problems with his liver.  Please keep Dad in your prayers for this he will fall apart when Cisco goes.  But he certainly has been a wonderful dog and I am sure Mom is waiting for him in Heaven!

My cell phone gave up the ghost here this week.  Yes I just gave my upgrade away but Krista lent me hers until March when the next upgrade comes.  It is a fancy phone and it has more on it than I need but went to AT&T and they gave me lessons and hopefully I will be able to work it well.

Last night Diana, Helen and I went to see Leap Year.  I guess most people would call it a chick flick but I enjoyed it...no shooting, or killing and lots of laughs.  Afterwards we had dinner at Chili's...

One night this week I let Cocoa out and she went to the end of the side walk and started barking.  So I went out there, and on my bird feeder pole was a huge racoon.  Of course about that time Cocoa took off for it and thankfully it hit the ground running and took off.  It is dark where the bird feeder is so I got this bright idea to put solar lamps out there, which sounds good but the lights are not very bright so I guess I will have to think of something else.

Sunday I will be going to the Deanery meeting getting ready for our Church convention on the 30th.

Well guess I better get going, please remember to take good care of you.  Let me hear from you.

Lots of Love
