November 14, 2009

Good morning all, it has been quite a week for me...some good some not so good but that is the way life is.  Hope yours has been great.  Spent one day working in the yard and I am pleased to say you can tell it.  But there is still lots more to do, thankfully living in Florida you get that opportunity just about everyday if you aren't tied up with something else  My magnolia tree has gone to heaven I am sure and it looks awful.  It is certainly on my list to do with my power saw...but it will have to sit there for a while longer.

Dad is really doing well, he has really bounced back from his heart attack.  Not that he is doing that much it is just his attitude has gotten much better on some things.  I swear the things he likes to eat is getting smaller except for the sweet stuff  Last Saturday we had dinner at Longhorn and he swears they have the best steaks...

Do you know the best way to disinfect your sponges?  I had to go for blood work on Tuesday and they have the on going health TV there.  Got to say I always learn something helpful when I watch it.  I had always thought that the best way to disinfect your sponges was to put them in the dishwasher.....but they say no!  The best way is to put them in the microwave for two minutes on high and that will kill the germs...I learned something.....

Got one picture this week that I would like to share that David sent me...it is of my first husband and his sister Sue.  It was taken in 1937 before he lost his leg.

They are adorable don't you think?

Poor Peter (Lana son) was taking a friend down south on Wednesday.  He had just bought four used tires and they were guaranteed for 20000 miles.  right!  Well one of the tires blew and the car turned over three times before it stopped.  That is awful but the blessing is his friend and he were not hurt...sore but otherwise fine.

Got to brag on another son of Lana's Robert.  It is never to late to return to school and he has done so.  He is working a full time job and is attending night classes.  I know that is hard but lots of praise for him!

Also on Wednesday, my Nancy (she had been having problems with her teeth, the dentist gave her antibiotics and some pain med's) was at a friend house doing her hair when suddenly she felt weak and she sat down in a chair.  That is the last she remembers she fell forward on her face and bless her heart she looks awful.  She has two black eyes, her face is swollen, it just made me sick when I seen her.

On Thursday morning I worked at the Press site for awhile.  Took Nancy to pick up her car at the friends house and then took Bill to the VA about his eyes.  It seems that when he had the cataract surgery one of the stitch had come lose.  The other eye had become cloudy so....They removed the stitch, laziered the other eye and hopefully now he is good to go.  If that wasn't enough I had a Federally Employed Women's meeting at 5.  Got out on the road and there had been an accident on the bridge so it was stop and go traffic all the way I was forty five minutes late for my meeting.  But the good news is I hadn't eaten since breakfast and I did get to eat.

Friday turned out to be fairly busy also...got the plants ready for the church and took them over.  Made Chili for the fair today also.  But I am sure I didn't do a 1/3 the work that the people that are really working on the Fair have/ and will do.  As I have said before this is our Community Project and everything that we make goes to the sharing center.

Last week my dishwasher started leaking and Bill suggested that I take the front off and see if I could see where it was leaking.  I know this won't be a surprise to you but I certainly couldn't find it.  I believe it is the bottom seal but you can't count on me to know that.  Anyway he told me to leave it off and he would check it out.  After a day passed he finally said to me you might as well put it back on because if I get down there I won't be able to get back up...so you see what is coming right?   I went looking for a dishwasher because like Dad, I really hate to wash dishes.

For quite sometime now I have been buying my appliances from Sears and have been very satisfied with them.  It may have just been the sales man but he talked me right out of buying a dishwasher there by telling me that I needed to get the service agreement if I did not and something happened the day after it was delivered it would be my problem...can't go there thought everything had at least a year warranty on it but according to him it did not.

So off I went to Home Depot, got my dishwasher with a three year warranty all for much less than I could have gotten it from Sears...just a thought if you are looking.   My only complaint with them is that it was to be delivered yesterday at 5:30 pm.....it arrived at 9:35pm...not too happy about that.

Got a nice note from Sue, telling me that she and Paul love the new retirement community that they are living in.  All kinds of activities for them to do.

Monday is launch so both Bet and I will be working at the Press site.  Also had a Local Planning Agency meeting on Monday but I had to pick between which none paying job I wanted to do.

Please take good care of you and yours and have a great week.

Lots of Love
