July 11, 2009

Hi everyone, hope that you have had an uneventful week or maybe you wanted an eventful week and you got it   We have been getting rain just about every afternoon, doesn't last long but the thunder and lightning that goes with it is not appreciated by me.   I have not been able to spray my weeds like I wanted to because it never seems to dry out.  Have pulled a lot of them but they seem to multiply and come right back.

On Saturday, it was off to Dad's for my visit, with him and Judy.  We decided to have dinner at Carrabba's .  They really have very good food there but Dad's say he doesn't know what it is.  I talked him out of having Pizza and we shared a shrimp & crabmeat dinner, like I said it was very good.

By the way the drinks (coffee) was already to go when I went to church on Sunday morning.  But our Priest is off on vacation for the rest of the month after this Sunday....so we will see how that works out.  It was suggested by a dear friend that I put a note in the bulletin asking for someone to replace me....still thinking about that one.  You know I hate to be a whiner when there are so many at the church that does so much more, and I can't use age as a way to get out of it a friend mows the whole yard out there and he is my age.  Oh well have to complain to someone.

On Monday afternoon I had the county Planning & Zoning Meeting.  90% of it was for the north area of the county.  They are about to change the comprehensive plan in that area (cutting down on heavy zoning) so they want to make sure they get this thru before they do.  The only other thing that irritated me was more zoning for docks in the river.  I guess everyone has a right to have a dock if the live on the river but I don't like it.

Tuesday I went into work at the Press Site....launch is set for Sat., at 7:39 but in the briefing they had it really doesn't look good as far as the weather is concern.  Like I mentioned before every afternoon we get a storm.  Have worked most of the week and hopefully we will launch tonight.  Right now there is only about a 40% chance that we will be successful.

The good news first...Birthday's...first of all want to wish my friend Mike a very Happy Birthday today...how old did you say you were Mike?   Then on Monday my baby Nancy will celebrate her birthday, that is why I say 13 is my lucky number.  Then my good friend Betty will celebrate on the 15th and so will Shari...gosh these people just seem to be getting younger and younger! Then of course the one with the very special birthday Ian will celebrate on the 17th and he will be 14!  Can't believe it!  Hope you all have a very happy day!

Dan's Mom has been in a nursing home for quite sometime and up until about a week ago she hardly didn't recognize anyone.  But it was like something great happened and she woke up.  She is doing so much better and is tired of staying in bed, really don't think that will happen soon but you never know.

The sad news is Dan's sister who was 62 passed away.  It was quite a shock for everyone.  The funeral will be on Tuesday.  The other part of that is she leaves behind a 6 year old neutered cat.  Diana & Dan can't take it they have four golden retrievers and they are not crazy about cats.  So if anyone you know might be interested, please let us know.

Got a note from Carla saying Aunt Ruby is doing quite well.  Still haven't heard from Jack!

Took Bill to the VA on Thursday and we started the process for him to have his arteries done.  The Dr said it would most likely be about a week before we hear when the appointment will be.  He also gave some indication that maybe they might be too bad to do.   So we will just have to pray that it will all turn out well.

Friend Karen went to her Dr for her disks and on Monday she will start a series of shots in hopes they will help her.  Please keep her in your thoughts.

Got my saw but darn, I have not had a chance to use it.  Lori gave me some well learned advice on the Pepper tree's...she said that within 5 minutes of cutting them you need to paint the cut with  round up.  I went to home depot and got it so I am ready to start, the question is just when?

Pat & Dave are back from their trip to Michiagan and it looks like they had a great time.  Bet and hubby are back from Alaska and she confirms that the state bird is the mosquito..

On a neighbor's property near me (40 acres) there is one horse.  She is a beautiful horse and is in the pasture all by herself.  It is not owned by the neighbor, the owner comes every night and feeds her and that is about it.  For a while every time I stopped by the pasture she came right up to the fence so I decided to get some carrots and apples and give her a treat once in a while....I guess I decided that about the same time everyone one else did because now she is fussy who she comes to the fence for and most of the time it isn't me.  But she is a beautiful horse hate to see her ignored.

Well I guess that is about it, not to much to ramble about this morning.  Judy & I will head out on Monday for NJ, hope to get there on Tuesday.  On Wednesday I will fly home and she will take off for Maine the same day to go to her class reunion.   She will be a tired girl after this is all over.

Have a great week and let me hear from you.

Lots of Love
