Good morning all, hope that you have had a great week! Got to say it has been quite hot here, in the 90's and with the heat index about 105 or so. Have been trying to work in the yard but I can assure you that I quit by 10, just can't take the heat. Was about to complain about my watering bulbs, but realize that because it is so hot the plants are needing more water.
Last Saturday I did my trip to Dad's as usual and we had a very nice visit. We went to Outback for dinner and he ate well. He went to the Doctor this week and he has lost 10 lbs. Not that it makes him skinny but back the idea that we sisters have that he is forgetting to eat. He has a therapist that comes three times a week and he is really enjoying that. He says it makes him feel a lot better.
Also on Saturday, granddaughter Krista gained her freedom and moved out. She and three other girls have rented a place on the beach. It is a very hard thing for Mothers especially when their children move out, believe me I know that. But she is 22 and I am sure she has a lot to learn, hopefully it won't be to painful for her.
On that same note, Todd went to his Mom on Sunday morning and said " I have a bit of a problem......I do not have any shampoo, tooth paste or toilet paper. It seems when Krista moved she also cleaned out the front bathroom. Diana said there is on good thing about that he doesn't care what kind of shampoo, tooth paste etc. It certainly will be cheaper
Hope all you Dad's had a wonderful Father's Day. I know my Dad was quite pleased with all of the cards that he got. He said it made him feel special, but on the other hand he wondered if they knew something he didn't....
Bill's daughter Dawn brought over a nice ham dinner with all the fixing. It was very good. Pat & Dave came over to help fixed the converter box. Let me tell you if you don't have cable it brings in a great picture and I believe we had about 15 channels or more on it. BUT the only way we could get that was to put the antenna on the ceiling with all the cords hanging down, it certainly didn't look to good. So down it came and I returned everything so now it is impossible to watch TV in the dinning room. But they did a great job and put lots of effort in it.
Oh just wanted to mention do you use softener in your wash? I always do, love the way it smells but my sister Judy found out from tips somewhere that you can use white vinegar for softener and it works the same. I was very doubtful about it sure didn't want my clothes smelling like vinegar....but I also seen this week on helpful tips from AOL that you use just a smidgeon of softener and the rest white vinegar so I tried it. The clothes does not have the vinegar odor and you certainly save money in the long run. Vinegar is much cheaper than the softener and it works...try it.
Had lunch with Karen on Tuesday and as usual we solved the worlds problems. She and her husband just got back from a trip to NY. They went on the train and ended getting a sleeper car, expensive but she said it was well worth it and highly recommends the food on the train.
Cocoa had been limping around since Monday and I looked at her foot but couldn't see anything decided that she must have got stung by a bee or something. Took her to the groomer on Wednesday and told her about it. Well guess what she found out why she was limping. She had lost her toe nail to the quick OUCH! no wonder she was limping. But she is doing fine now, it also ended up she had a bad ear infection so all in all the groomer saved me money because I was about to take her to the Vet. Oh yes I did call the Vet and he left medicine for me to pick up for her ears.
We have several birthday's this week, starting with nephew Kyle on the 29th. Wishing you the happiest birthday ever my handsome man! Then on the 30th Miss Charlie will be two! Happy Birthday to you dear little one. On the same day sister Judy will celebrate her 39th birthday A very happy birthday to you love you lots! Then to round it all out, is niece Lisa who will celebrate hers on the first! Wishing you all the very best!
On Wednesday evening I met with that old gang of mine from NASA Payloads! Always enjoy getting together with them. Had a great time and a great visit.
To top the week off I met Diana on Thursday afternoon and we went to the movies. The Proposal was a very enjoyable move. We laughed and laughed, it only had a one star rating but we really enjoyed it. Then we had dinner at Chili's. A great way to share my day!
Friday I had my hair done and Nancy had a few customers...bless her heart she sure has it rough. It has been over a year now since we got her health insurance and I was so pleased about it. The sad news about that is everywhere she went they didn't take the insurance, not the hospital or for mammogram or the Dr. So we paid for a year to get nothing. I am sure hoping and praying that something comes out of the Presidents Health care package that won't cost a fortune that will cover her.
Well I guess that is about it for this week, Monday I am off to NJ to drive back with Judy. We are going to take the scenic route so it should be very enjoyable. Hope I remember my camera so I will have a few pictures to share with you next week.
Lots of Love to all
