June 13, 2009

Good morning all, quite a busy week for some of us I know hope all is going well with you.  Strangest thing I have a hanging basket that the flowers died in (my fault they were supposed to be in the shade...didn't look) then flowers started to come out of the side of the basket Pieta' in fact.  I have bought a new plant that will do well in the sun but I put the liner in a new basket just to see how well those plants do that are coming out of the side of it.  Still getting a little rain just about everyday but I am not complaining.

Got a note from Jack Adams it seems that Uncle Omar was taken to the hospital in Inverness last Saturday in a very confused and agitated state.  Turns out he had a very bad urinary track infection.  When Aunt Joyce went in to visit him Monday morning, he did not even recognize her.   Jack  flew down Tuesday evening, to help his Mom.  They  moved him to a good rehab center near their house  and he is expected to be there 4-6 weeks before he'll be ready to come home.  He is now recognizing us and cooperating with the staff at rehab so hopefully he will continue to make progress.  Unfortunately, Aunt Joyce is on oxygen and isn't doing well either, Thank goodness for the people at the Church they are helping  Aunt Joyce every way they can.  She will be by herself until he is able to come home.  Please keep them in your prayers.

Went for my visit to Dad's on Saturday and he really seemed to be doing a lot better.  We ate in and watched the Belmont the final three that we watch each year.  Dad's phone was going right to the answering machine and you couldn't turn it off, so I bought him a new one...In a way it worked out for him with the machine coming on because he didn't have to take any calls from vendor's  But his new one is working fine and that is what counts.

Nancy went down on Monday fixed him dinner and stayed the night.  My Dad was not an only child but he sure is fussy what he eats.  I think it has gotten worse as he gets older.  Won't really go into it but lets just say Nancy said she would not cook for him again  She served him flounder, potato, string beans and a salad.  He picked at all of it.

Monday evening I had a Planning & Zoning meeting at Viera.  Two items stick out in my mind...One a man had 10 acres that he has owned for 13 years and basically it is all wet lands and he wants to build five houses there.  He has no access to the land....Poor man I felt so sorry for him having to pay taxes on that land all this time (not) he is a developer and knew he was going to have problems building there but it is on the river front and he had hoped he could make a bundle...he was turned down by us.  The other was for an assisted living facility on a very busy road and the neighbor's were not happy about it.  One of their complaints was about the noise...just couldn't see that besides they could have something much worse there.

Tuesday I went into work at the Pass and ID station.  We put together at least 600 press badges for launch.  The print was so small on them that I was seeing spots.

Wednesday I received a note from Carla, Aunt Ruby is in the hospital again with pneumonia.   Lots of praying going on....

On Wednesday, I took Bill for his Dr. visit at the VA. thank goodness all is much better than it was, hope that news continues.  But last week we learned he will have to have the surgery on his face and they will need to do a skin graft....not looking forward to that.  He is scheduled for the 22, he will go for his work up next week.

Oh, my bird feeder is doing great it certainly keeps the squirrels at bay but can't say the same for the racoon's.  It has been knocked to the ground several times by them.

My home town had a Memorial Day parade, always have and I remember it well.  Walked that route many times when I was in the Band.  Here is a pictures from the parade this year.   My cousin Blair carrying the flag as part of the  VFW color guard.

He is the one in the middle.

Went last Saturday morning to the nursery, took a cutting of my dying rose bush to see what was causing it and low and behold I think we found were the leak in the pool is.  The very first thing that the Gardner said was it is getting too much water......But Bill is still sure that he can fix the pool....

Bet and I have both been working the Press Site getting ready for this morning launch.  This morning at 2 I got a  call that launch had been canceled because of a leak.  It will be at least four days before launch.

I just wanted to let you know that NASA has a great website that includes everything you would want to know about NASA and its missions.  If you click on Shuttle, it will give you the STS-127 link, Press Kit, Mission Summary, the crew, etc.  It has all the expendable mission info.    Plus updates on just about everything NASA.  Enjoy!

Dad seems to be doing ok, he certainly sleeps a lot and really isn't interested in eating.  Poor Cisco allergies are acting up and Diana took him to her Vet yesterday.  Dad just don't trust his Vet any more.

Last evening just before dark Bill went out to the garage and when he came in he told me there was a six foot corn snake on our back porch.  He had no idea where he went.  Cocoa and I went out to look for him but to no avail.  Maybe it is a good thing from my point of view that launch was scrubed if I had gone out of here this morning in the dark with a crock pot in my hands full of BBQ meatballs and he is out there....I might have some sad news for you....like I woke the whole neighborhood up screaming and the porch is now covered with meatballs

Well I am sure I am missing some juicy info I should pass on to you my mind just isn't working right this is all I can come up with.  Hope you all have a wonderful week, don't forget to share your pictures and family info with me.

Lots of Love
