May 9, 2009

Good Morning all, hope that you have had a great week.  Hope this doesn't offend you but I think it says it all about Friends and Family!

Dad and I had a nice visit on Saturday and rushed off to Applebee's for dinner in order to be home in time to watch the Kentucky Derby.  Did you watch it?  As with everything else it takes hours to tell all about it and about five minutes and it is over.  We had no favorites and just admired the beauty of those horses.  The horse that one was a long shot...50-1, his owner paid $20,000 for him and drove him to the Derby himself.  The horse name is Mine that Bird....what a name, do they call him Mine or Bird?  Next stop is the Preakness which will be held in two weeks in Baltimore.

Cisco is doing  very well for a dog his age, don't know if it is the new food, or the med's that he takes still a little rough getting up and down but he is doing great!

Kind of goofed on what Judy attended last week end it was the 36 annual Maryland Sheep & Wool Festiable held in West Friendship, MD. It was lots of work for Jess & Casey but there was a lot of nice people there and Judy said no crazies there

Todd was out to help us last week and cut the pepper trees that we had growing out by the barn, Those things will take over if you let them.  There are just certain things that it is impossible for us to do and he can do it in just a few minutes.  I find myself making a list for the next time he comes

Have done lots of work in my yard but as you know you never catch up with it.  The weeds grow faster than the flowers.

NASA is ready for launch on Monday on a mission to fix Hubble.  Bet and I both worked yesterday and will be going into day.  We have tomorrow off but will be back at work on Monday for the launch itself.  They are going to fix the Hubble which has sent back some spectacular pictures.

Birthdays we have birthdays this week, On Tuesday, (the day she leaves for Florida) sister Helen will celebrate her birthday.  I believe she will be 39  or at least she would like to think so...got to find out her favorite cake...one piece won't hurt!  Then my one of my very special friends will celebrate on the 14th, you know the one where we solve all the world's problems and no one listens to us  Hope it is the best one yet Karen!

Joyce is off to NH this weekend to be attentive and responsive to two teenage boys while their parents are on business trips.  I know she will have a great time always did when I did it.

Well I finally got them...both passports...I am set to go to Canada.  Diana has been talking about going with me in the fall to leaf beep so she had better get her's so I won't have to leave her at the border.  But she may be there with Helen since her paper work is all done and she hasn't taken it to the Post Office.

Had a surprise visit from Dawn this week she bought me a beautiful Chocolate cake for Mother's day.   Of course I sure don't need it but it was very good!

This week they (Calais Firemen) lost a beloved friend and fellow fireman to cancer.  My Brother-in-law Geoffrey conducted the Last Call service.

Got to tell you a funny...I believe I have mentioned in the past that my friend Bet collects rocks.  It is so easy to get her something when you go away  Well last week she and her family spent the week at Key West.  On the way back she saw a shop that was selling "living rocks".  So she insisted that her husband turn around she had to go back and find out what a "living rock' was.  Well it turns out that it is coral that has been in and has to be kept in saltwater.  She just had to have one and she thought for sure her son  had a salt water aquarium, but her husband said not it wasn't.  (by the way she paid $5. for this rock).  When she got home she checked  with her son, no it wasn't a salt water aquarium...so then she suggested to her husband that maybe they could get one and he said no way  not for a rock.  So she has fixed a basket for the "living rock" and has it in the canal behind her home...You go girl!

I want to wish all you Mothers a Happy Mother's Day, we do not know how lucky we are to have our Mothers until we lose them.

Have a wonderful week and take good care of you!

Lots of Love
a (aa) ~g~
