Howdy all how has your week been? The weather here has been quite good and I have accomplished much in the yard. Just have to get out there every day and keep at it. As I mentioned before some of the plants I thought I had lost are coming back but most of them I just had to pull them out of the ground no sign of hope for them.
This is where I wish I knew the name of some of my plants except green or whatever color they are. I had a fern like growing the length of my pool it had turned black and when I looked at it closely it was covered with eggs of some sort so they all had to be cut back...not sure if I should spray the area with something to prevent this in the future or not...guess I will have to asked at Home Depot.
I get such a kick out of Bill he is dreaming of putting in a garden as it is he got 12 tomato plants I am waiting to see how long it will be before they die. Because Bill doesn't water or weed or fertilize for some reason he thinks they will grow on their own.
Last Saturday was quite and interesting day, started off with my quest to get a passport. I intended when I left here just to get the card not the book. I did not take my check book according to what they had said on line it cost $45. All was going smoothly until the lady that was waiting on me said are you sure you don't want the book?
The family next to me was asked the same thing and told the card was alright if you are driving into the country but if you fly you have to have the book. The family said they had no plans but you never know they might win the lotto and then they would need it. I started thinking about the possibility of a cruise or something like that and she was looking at me like I was an idiot for not even thinking about that possibility. So there I was...how much will it be well it turned out to be $146. and believe me I had to dig to find that amount of money. I sure had second thought about not carrying my checks with me. But it is done and I should have it in about four to six weeks.
Left from the Post Office and went to work at the Badging Station for the Press. Sorry to say no famous people came in while I worked there. I was suppose to be at the Press Site at 12, so grabbed a sandwich and took off. Really wasn't any hurry because when I got there I found out that the first attempt had been waved off. There were many calls everyone wanting to know when we would land, and these people call from all over the country. But finally at about 1:52 we got the word that they would land at 3:13 and it was a beautiful sight!

Then I was off for my visit with Dad. He seems to be doing fine, his leg is healing and it looks like he won't have to have the skin graft. The sisters give him a fruit basket a month so each month he gets a different fruit, this month it was pineapple and he had asked me to cut it for him and I had said I would neither one of us thought about it so Lana had to cut it for him. We tried a new restaurant it was called Guesippe Italian restaurant, I thought that I would try it because every time we go to the Olive Garden they are packed and we always have to wait. Well it was real Italian and they do a great business. Our salad was quite different for me but very good. It had romaine lettuce, baby spinach, marinated peppers, pine nuts garbanzo beans, pine nut, and cherry tomato's and they only had their own home made dressing it was very good.
Speaking of Lana and Shari, Dad was so pleased they both came down and cleaned a good part of his house...like dusting and washing the kitchen floor. Can't begin to tell you how happy Dad was about it and he kept saying and I didn't asked them to do it either
On Tuesday we had roll out of Atlantis to the pad This launch will take place on the 12th of May and this mission is to fix Hubble.
Sister Judy has been busy this last two weeks with her living room. She has stripped the wall paper and is having her neighbor husband put new ceiling molding in. She sure has the energy, I am sorry if the wall was wall papered it would either have to stay that way or put the new over it. But that is me..
I had heard from my FEW group that for arthritis pain the best thing to take for it was...1 box of golden raisins and a pint of gin. What you do is you pour the gin over the raisins and let them set for about a week. The gin is absorbed into the raisins. Then you take nine to 10 of them a day, it takes awhile for it to make a difference but they swear by it. In fact one of the ladies puts them on her cereal in the morning. No more pain... Took awhile to convince Helen she should try it, she has terrible pain in her knee's, The good news she has tried it and it seems to be doing it's job. Don't know what makes it work but if you have arthritis pain you might want to try it.
Cousin Wayne Adams in TX has a new grandchild, and I also believe Carla has a fairly new grandchild also. Isn't that wonderful!
Happy Birthday wishes goes out to Lisa husband Roy who will be celebrating on the 8th. Best wishes to you!
On Thursday evening I attended a FEW meeting where we had a Dr. talk to us about osteoporosis and how important that it is to have a density test every five years after you hit 50. Thankfully I have that done and other than the worse for wear I am doing fine. Hate to say this but all of my sisters have the onset of osteoporosis and my Mom had it also. I was a big milk drinker right into my adulthood, in fact Clyde and I use to get two gallons every other day (he also was a mild drinker) up until he started to get kidney stone and then we both stopped....but it still my thinking today you can't enjoy a good piece of chocolate cake with out a glass of milk But anyway to make a long story short if you haven't had this checked ask your Dr. about it.
What a surprise, my friend Bet joined Facebook! I will really be surprised if she is more active on it than I am
Most of this week was spent in the yard....found new ackes I haven't had for awhile so much so I thought maybe a person my age shouldn't be doing this But it was just a thought so I keep at it...slowly but surely I will get it done. I had sent a note to Todd this week asking for some help I had four pots in the front that I wanted to plant. I was really surprised they made it so now we will see what they do. He came over yesterday and they are in the ground!
Hope you have a great week, thanks for the cards.....talk to you soon and take good care of you!
