Last Saturday was a busy day I must say that....went in to work a 8 always find it interesting working at the Press site. I was mostly just answering the phone's while Bet was and escort in and out from the badging stations for reporters.
Dad seems to be doing alright, his leg looks like it is healing up fine finally. He is having some trouble with water retention (swelling) in his legs but he is now on a water pill which seems to be helping. Cisco is doing much better, bless his heart. He has allegories plus problems with his hips but Dad has had him to the Vet and his is on medication and really is responding well to it. Dad and I could not decided just where to go to eat so back to Applebee's we went.
My son Patrick has joined a chorale group in Orlando, he loves to sing and is quite a showman. On Saturday evening they had their first performance since Pat has joined them. I really wanted to go but it would have been late when I started home alone from Orlando, he promised if he could they would tape it. I bet it was wonderful! This is a picture of him and David before the performance.
He is the one in the Tux, isn't he handsome! Not that David isn't...
Of course Sunday was launch day, both Bet and I went in at 3 and have got to say we were busy. Got all kinds of calls, one was from a gentleman in N. Carolina telling us that he had been watching the tech's. hooking up the astronauts and that Mission Specialist 2 had a crimped hose under his arm and he was concerned about it. Another was from a guy in Scottsdale, AZ pointing out to us that he had watched every launch growing up and has continued to do so. His concern was the vent cap was not giving off vapors as it usually does and was concerned that we hadn't noticed it. Of course there was also concern about the bat that was on the tank...All and all it was an interesting time and it resulted in a beautiful launch. It has been reported that people seen it as far away as Miami.
On Monday evening I attended my Federally Employed Women's Board meeting. One of the many things that they talked about was Award that they had hoped the Chapter would qualify for one of them was Special Projects and I mentioned about Baxley, and several other things we do and was informed that they do not recognize Community Project for Awards. So I gave my speech and afterward they said they wouldn't have to go to Church on Sunday and laughed. Then gave me an action item to write up why the National Organization should recognize those things and I since have completed it. Hopefully it will give other Chapters all over the Country to be more active in their Community.
On Wednesday evening my old friends from Payloads got together for dinner. It was great fun and we always have plenty to talk about.
We did Baxley yesterday and it seems they are over stocked in tooth paste and shampoo. Those things they need the most they tend not to use them. I don't know why when most people get old they don't think they need to take a bath or clean their teeth but from my experience from older people that is true. But all and all everything went well. Afterwards we eat at the Chinese Buffet and was so pleased Diana and Todd joined us.
Poor Diana the national count for the post office is finished don't know how you mail person did but Diana now in order to keep the pay she is getting has to work six days a week. It has been a long month for her, she has been keeping a count of everything on her route and truthfully it has stressed her out. So she took yesterday and today off. I tell you everything is going to pot in a basket!
As you know I usually go to Dad's on Saturday but today my good friend Bet and her husband Don are celebrating their 50th anniversary. They are both wonderful people so you can see why their marriage has held true. Tomorrow I will go to Dad's.
Hope this finds you all well and that you have a great week. Remember I always love to hear from you so drop me a line and catch me up on what is going on in your family. Have a great day, I am off to work in the yard
Lots of Love
