Howdy all, hope you have had a wonderful week nothing too exciting but still interesting I have been trying to work out in the yard, my rose bushes really need to be cut back but I hate to cut them while they are still blooming. I have cut some back but others have the most beautiful blooms on them...but sooner than later I will have to cut them back.
A strange thing happened here last Saturday, I was sitting on the back porch when Bill came and told me that there was a lady sitting on our front porch. So I went to the door and asked her if she was alright. She seemed to be about my age, so when she said she was walking (she said she loves to walk) she got tired and seen the bench and if I didn't mind she would rest a little bit and then be on her way. I said that was fine and could I get her a glass of water, and her said no she was fine. Well time went on and she was still there. Bill said we should call the Sheriff office and tell them about her and I said no she was just resting.
Well what seemed like an hour she was still sitting there. So I asked her if she would like a ride home and she said no she liked to walk and continued to sit. I hated to call the Sheriff's office because I didn't want to scare her but Bill kept insisting so I called and asked Lana what she would do and she agreed with Bill. So we called about 10 minutes after we called she decided to start walking. She didn't walk very well so again I asked her if I could give her a ride home. No and repeated what she had said earlier.
I asked her where she was from because she had an accent and she said the Philippines she said she had been here almost two weeks and wanted to go home and started to cry. Just then the two women deputies arrived. They were very nice to her asked her where she lived she said down the street could they give her a ride home, no she liked to walk. They asked her the daughters name she only knew the first name, didn't know what kind of car she drove or what color it was. I could see there was a problem so I came back into the house. When she finally got to the end of the drive way they did convince her to let them give her a ride....what happened after that is a mystery. I had never seen her before but in this day with older people just walking off I am glad that we did call for help.
Stacey who was visiting Paul in VA was scheduled to come home on Sunday. Pat was going to pick her up at the airport and bring her home. Well the plane caught on fire and everyone was evacuated. Her flight was delayed one day but the good news is she got a free round trip ticket out of it. The bad news was that she didn't get into Orlando on Monday until 11:30 PM and Diana had to go get her...poor Diana then had to be at work on Monday at 7:30...
Pat & Dave came over on Sunday to take down the Christmas tree. In fact what happen was Dave took down the Christmas tree and Pat worked on the laptop.
Well with all the help that I got from Shari and then Pat my laptop works like a dream. They tell me it is a great laptop but how should I know. It is 64 bit and according to them that is a wow! It is now working great I said it is a shame that someone that doesn't know what they are doing has such a wonderful laptop...but I guess I deserve it The only thing that really bothers me is that it is black and when ever you touch it you leave finger prints, it drives me crazy so I will have to get something to cover it.
On Monday evening I had my Planning and Zoning meeting in Viera, all went smoothly nothing to exciting happened. Except there was one item that the gentleman owned 1/3 acre in an old development and wanted to build a house there, it is long and narrow. He is going to build a 35X35 house on it with 7 ft set back on each side and 20 ft set backs in the front and back...sounded like a mess to me I voted no but the board passed it.
On Tuesday my co-chair and I met to discuss vendor's for the FEW's up coming training session in March. It is a two day training program where we have anywhere from 500/600 people attend special training. What we are doing is looking for vendor's that would like to sell their wares to women who like to shop. Sometimes it works out great both for the vendor's who make some money and for the shopper who gets to see something new.
On Wednesday I took Bill to the VA. He has a spot on his face and in his ear that the Dr. treated over six months ago and it is still bleeding. The Dr. treated it again and said it look suspicious to him, so back we go on the 10th of Feb for minor surgery.
Dad took Cisco to the Vet also on Wednesday it was for his yearly check up but he also got new medicine for his leg and allergies. He is such a wonderful dog, there is a special place for him when he goes. But like us as we get older he keeps adding things to his list that go wrong.
They are showing the house across the street from us, it really makes me sad. I feel bad for the people who own it but hate to see it sold to some person that is not aware of the water problems that is has.
This picture was taken several days later after the storm. The house was like it had a mote around it.
On Thursday evening I had another zoning meeting this time it was solely for North Merritt Island. For those of you that do not know NMI is county and it is about the only place left to build. Although our economy is in rough shape, the builder's still want to build out here. After all these years of trying to get through to the powers that be, that some of the area is just not build able...I think "Fay" (the last storm that went through) has made them see the problem.
The NMI homeowners met on Monday evening and had all the storm people from the County there and all the problem area's were pointed out. There were some solutions but no money, nor no planning to do the work. That made a lot of people aware of just how more density would effect them. So at our meeting we had a record number of people show up to protest against two fairly large developments that was proposed for the area. So it did my heart good that we now had in black in white why these should not be allowed. Good meeting!
Next weekend Diana and Todd are off to see a college in PA. They recruited Todd for football and still want him. So they are going to look the place over. When Diana called to make reservations at the hotel there, after she gave her address the man said why in the world would you want to come here? It is cold (it is right on Lake Erie) and snowing. So it ought to be an interesting trip.
Was informed by a friend of mine that you can no longer ship oranges up north. She was going to send them to Chicago and could not because of citrus cancer. She told them they don't have oranges there but it didn't matter. It was also suggested that I take them to Baxley...have done that in the past but it had slipped my mind this year...so I will do it. The problem is we have so many tree's some of them will still go to waste.
Lots of Love
