Happy New Year all!

Good Morning all, what a week this has been.  The weather here has been great, not too hot and certainly not cold!  It was great to work in the yard, but I certainly didn't get any of that done.  I am in the process of cutting  back my rose bushes but hate to do it when they still have buds on them.

Last Saturday I went down to Best Buy in hopes of getting my new Laptop.  When we called they assured us they had several of them.  Well guess what?  They did not!  When I looked on line they guaranteed delivery by the 24th, I paid more for shipping to assure that I would get it...I did not!  I had plans to give the one I had to Todd for college so I had not gotten him anything but his Hess truck...well the best laid plans of mice and men so often go wrong!  I have called and talked to the people at Best Buy and of course they passed the blame onto UPS.  When I called UPS they said that it was the sender fault because it was shipped regular shipping.  More on this saga later.

Dad, Judy and I went to Carrabba's for dinner last Saturday and we really enjoyed our meal.  It is Diana's favorite place to go.  But I think Dad thought it was a little loud there.  Brother in Law Greg arrived on Sunday, always great to have the family here.

Gosh I was so glad I asked you what you did about the tips...it certainly was a learning experience for me.  I must of missed the article in the paper about how much you should give but many of you did not.  Thanks.  I too have thought about giving the mail person a tip because they do make more money than I do.  Some have great mail carriers and always do a little extra for them...I have had carriers like that.  Diana made a point about the cookies and candy she has 500 people on her route, and all though she is grateful for anything she gets she points out before she/her family could eat it all it would spoil.  Most all the people on her route knows her by her first name and of course I am not predigests but she is one of those carriers that go out of her way for the people on her route.  She carries dog bones for the dogs just to name something extra she does.  Lots of times the dogs and the owners are waiting for her when she arrives.  I did tip my paper person cause I know they are under paid but can't say they give me great service hate it when I go out to pick up the paper, and the bag is open on both ends and it usually spills all over the drive way.
Anyway I do tip most of them, refuse to tip the garbage man for personal reasons.

On Monday we went to Baxley for the Christmas party.  All went well  and everyone seemed happy until we realized that we had three people with no gifts.  One was an over site on our part the other two were not on the list.  Thankfully we are usually prepared for at least one and Thank God were blessed this year we had extra money given to us so every one got a gift.  I hate to give them money but I know it is just as good as a card they can go anywhere to buy what they want.  Anyway a happy story that ends well!

As most of you know sister Lana is a nurse at Holmes, for more years that I can remember.  She works with the babies.  This year she took on the task of knitting Christmas stocking for all the babies, with Judy's help she accomplished her deed.

I believe between her and Judy they made 14.  Lana is the 2nd one from the left  It certainly is the picture of the week!

On Tuesday I got down to business with my bread.  For some reason it was slow to rise and I was up late because of it.  But I made 8 double loaves, and four large pans of cinnamon rolls, gosh the house smelt wonderful!

Also on Tuesday my granddaughters came out and put my Christmas tree up.  What a wonderful job they did.  I had proclaimed that there would be no tree is someone didn't come and put it up.  It is a big tree and it is just too much for me.  Of course my family are professional worriers and the next step that bother me was who would take it down, but that question is also answer Pat and Dave are going to come and take it down!  Isn't that wonderful...one more thing I don't have to worry about.

Then on Wednesday was pie day.  Sister Judy came up to help me, which is really different for me to have help but she was sure welcomed!  We made two large loaves of Banana bread, 4 choc pies, 5 pumpkin pies, a lemon, and three apple pies....it was great having her help and I was done by 5.  Mission accomplished...which was great!!!

Started off Christmas Day going to Church, not many there but I am so glad they have a Christmas day service because I am just too tired to go on Christmas eve.

This has got to be the runner up for the picture of the week...Nap time

We had a wonderful Christmas, Pat and Dave were here early and got the turkey on....then they just took over gosh they are fast something that would have taken me all morning to do and snap your finger and it was done.  What a blessing they are to me!

Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and was able to spend it with family and friends like I was fortunate to do.  Please let me hear all about your Christmas...it is great to share.  Have a wonderful New Year!

Lots of Love

"We grow great by dreams. All big men are dreamers. They see things in the soft haze of a spring day or in the red fire of a long winter's evening. Some of us let these great dreams die, but others nourish and protect them; nurse them through bad days till they bring them to the sunshine and light which comes always to those who sincerely hope that their dreams will come true."- Woodrow Wilson  1856–1924, 28th President of the United State
