November 8, 2008

What a wonderful week this has been as far as weather is concerned.  Love it when it isn't so hot...I am sure there are those who do not agree with me like my husband that is for sure it has been in the 70's in the day time and he still had the heat on...he would never make it in Maine that is for sure.

One thing I forgot to mention last week was my Stacey got a Merritt Award from work.  It was kind of funny in a way it was a $250 award which is nice but by the time they took the taxes out it was like a $100.  But it is so nice to see that she is being recognized for her dedicated work.

Also another good bit of news, Dan started work at USA on Monday.  As I said in the past it is a temporary position but we hope it will turn into a permanent one.

Dad and I tried the Red lobster for dinner last week.  I think we were both a little disappointed in the food and found that their prices have certainly gone up a lot since we had been there.  Don't know where we will go tonight but steak is in order for Dad that is for sure.

Dad seems to be getting along well since our scare lasts week, but his leg is not healing like it should.  The Doctor told Lana if it had not healed by the time they go back to her, she will be sending him to another Doctor where he may have to have a skin graft.

Diana computer is not fix completely and she is still having trouble with it.  Although Shari is fixing it remotely she does it in the middle of the night when Diana is sleeping so it has been a difficult task to complete.  Dad sent her some free things to down load that would take care of the viruses but it won't even let her do that.  Oh well we can only hope for the best!  The sad thing is Pat's laptop hit the dust and wanted to know if he could have mine but it looks as though if Diana's is not fixed soon I will have to give it to Todd before I am ready for school.

Thanks for all your prayers brother-in-law Fred, he is on his way to recovery and has been moved from Boston to Bangor.  Hopefully he will continue to improve.

Sister Joyce was elected to the City Council in Calais.  She had served in that position before and then took a break but now after retiring has more free time and has opted to try to make the city better, once again I am proud of her.

On the election the local paper had live coverage at different polls asking people who they voted for etc.  Several years ago I learned just how uneducated people are about the local offices.  I just don't understand it...of course the President makes a difference but the people running for local office will hit them in the head first and it is so important to know what is going on.  I give lots of credit to those people who run for local offices, there is a lot of work running for any office and the fact the average person don't look into who they are is unacceptable as far as I am concerned.  99% of these people could not remember a few minutes ago when they voted who they voted for in a city council race.....enough said!

Had lunch with Bet on Monday to celebrate her birthday!  Now she is as OLD as I am   Afterwards I went to her house and we loaded up the stuff she was giving to our church fair.  It filled Bill's SUV.  There was a lot of nice stuff and the ladies and the church was very glad to get it.  Today is the big day and I hope all is successful!

This coming week we are all set for the next Shuttle launch and Bet and I will be working .  Launch is set for Friday, I believe at 7 something in the evening.

This is a the picture of the week it is of two old friends of mine from high school and cousin Blair.  It seems they all go to the VFW for Karaoke on Friday evening and have a great time.  Neither of my friends sing but they tell me Blair is great!

On Wednesday evening I had my FEW meeting about our annual training session.  As I had mentioned I had some problems with what they were planning to do and I am thankful to say they agreed with my feelings.  So now I have to get busy and get vendors that will make everyone happy.

On Wednesday, Bet and Don rescued a blue heron from the cannel.  It is quite a large bird with a wide wing span beautiful though.  Anyway Bet was working in the yard when she heard his wings flapping, I may not get the story just right but this is what I remember she told me...the bird had his bill on the man next door's boat and could not get his feet up he was just flapping away....so she and Don each took a foot and pulled him up but he went right back to where he was.  So this time they got him out and wrapped him in a towel and put him in their garage.  Then they set of to try to get someone to help rescue the bird...It took them a long while but finally the Brevard Zoo came through and told them where to take him.  They called later and was told he didn't have a broken wing and they had to force feed him but he is now on his way to recovery!!   Good going!

The new President and Vice President....no, could be but she is a republican, in the spring when Obama was campaigning in NH my niece Liz had her picture taken with him...what a great keepsake not many of us can have that keepsake no matter who we voted for.

How did you do with the time change?  Got to say it throws me off every time.  The only alarm clock I use is me...so even though we turned the clock back I was concerned that I might over sleep but ....I didn't I woke up in plenty of time to go fix the drinks at church.

Well I have taken my plants over to the church, made my chili for today now off to work at the fair...hope all goes well with the fair...

Please take good care of you and keep in touch...

Lots of Love
