November 01, 2008

Good morning all hope that you have had a wonderful week!  The weather here has been nice a little cooler but not bad.  I understand that NJ is getting snow so we can be thankful that it hasn’t been that cold.  The wind has really been strong here I regret to say the other night the wind was so strong that it blew my prize poinsettias of their stand and broken them all to pieces.  I was just sick.

Dad and I tried Chowder’s for dinner last week.  We both had the grouper and it was very good.  Although I found it to be very expensive it is a nice place to eat because it is on the river and it has beautiful view.  In fact we watched a tug boat pulling a barge down the river…interesting because I see it all the time causing us to wait for the bridge to go up but you never know where it is going.

Well we had a little scare with Dad on Sunday.  I had hardly got home from church when Lana call and told me he was on the way to the hospital.  His head was spinning and he was sweating big time, his stomach was also upset.  He spent the night at the hospital and had test and they thought that because his Coumadin level had gone so high for some reason it caused him to have vertigo.  But he is home and doing very well.  His "angel" Lana has been continuing to go over every day and change his bandages on his leg.  He went to the Dr. this week and finally it looks like it is healing up.  It has been that way for a couple of years.  Can't believe it he has been so many Dr. for it and finally he has found one that is going to fix it.   This new GP he has really seems to know what he is doing!!

I am so proud of sister Joyce and her husband who attended the Maine Episcopal Convention last week.  They voted that the national church should recognized gay and lesbians as part of the clergy.  I know that some of you feel very strongly against that but I don't believe that it is something that you chose.  Many of you know this, many of you don't but I have a son that is gay and he is a wonderful responsible person.  He has been in a relationship now for 20 years and he is wonderful to me.  So I am pleased that some parts of the church is recognizing that God loves everyone no matter what they are if they are good people!  I try not to be controversial in this but it is important to me.

Poor Diana she is like me when it comes to the computer.  Last week when she was on it the message came up that she had several viruses and she needed to down load this anti spam thingy.  So that is what she did....oh yes she gave them her credit card and all, then it wouldn't do anything so she called the help number and that is when found out that she had been spammed!  She called the Geek Squad at Best Buy in hopes to get it fix and it would have cost her a bunch of money plus it would have to be left there for 3 days.  When we were sitting outside the hospital on Sunday she told Shari what had happened and she said no problem I can fix that!  WOW our computer genius has done it again.  She has fixed it remotely from her home, well for the most part it has been fixed she has one more thing to do....Diana is so grateful because Todd uses that computer for school work.  Big Thanks Shari you are the greatest!!!

Brother-in-law Fred is not doing well at all it doesn't look good for him. He is really going through a lot and certainly needs all the prayers that he can get.

Gas in NJ is still going down, and Sue tells me it is now at $2.29.  When I got gas the other night it was $2.42, the next day when I went by it was $2.40.  I just hope it continues that way and isn't an election freak thing..

Birthdays' we have Birthday's....first of all I want to start right off wishing my Dear Friend Bet a very happy birthday today...she is the greatest!  Talking about the Greatest nephew Rand also celebrates today.  Want to wish him the very best!

Rather proud of myself on Tuesday... I have been getting some nasty e-mails about my choice for President.  I have asked people not to send me that stuff but it continues.  Maybe I am cookie but the way I look at it is both of these men are giving the ultimate sacrifice running for this office and before they did so they were highly respected...none of that crap should be going out about either of them just the issues but anyway one of the ladies in my FEW group really upset me on Tuesday with one of those things and I was invited to her house to play cards that nite.  So I have a friend that had a special shirt...one with my candidate on it and wore it to the game.  Now I knew either one of two things could happen...she would asked me to leave or she would be the wonderful person I thought she was and not say anything and get the message.  I am pleased to say the later happen and all went well I have not gotten one of things from her since!

Nephew William is another angel in the Paige family.  He has been great in coming over and doing Dad’s yard.  This week he started on the wild vines that are going on the fence…he is another wonderful person!

Well I made up my mind on Thursday to go vote!  Bill said I can’t believe you are going to stand in that line but I think you will stand in line no matter when you go.  More people are voting that usually do not this time.  I told you about my dilemma about the property appraiser both of them are idiots (my thinking anyway) so I decided not to vote for either one of them…the only ones on the ballot I did that.  On purpose I didn’t wear my watch but I think I was there about an hour.

Many of my hanging plants have gone to sleep for the winter…hate to see that but they really look pitiful.  I know they will come up in the spring but hate to have dead baskets hanging there.  I have really not decided what to do with them.

Next week is our annual church fair; it is a great event we raise between 4 and 5 thousand for a local charity.  The Sharing Center helps so many people and this year is practically bad with so many people out of work.   Anyway this is when I donate plants and work in the plant section of the Fair and of course there are always plants there that I need. J  But this year thanks to Bet I am going to be able to take more stuff.   She and her husband Don had a garage sale a couple of weeks ago and made over $600.  But they had lots of stuff left over and have donated some to the Moose Lodge and others as well as to the Church Fair.  Bless her heart she has stored it for me and I have to go pick it up.  I just know what she has will certainly help out a lot!

As you all know October was breast cancer awareness month and on that note would like to say that Nancy was lump free (as you recall she had to have a biopsy the last time).  Now Granddaughter Stacey has a lump, they don’t think it is cancerous but are taking no chances.  She will go on the 11th to the radiologists to find out more.  Also got a note from friend Betty this week that her brother has been diagnosed with breast cancer.  I have added him to the pray list.
This is a the picture of the week it is my GREAT niece Charlie…she sure is growing and Grandma Helen is very proud of her.  We all think she is beautiful!

As I mention in past letters we (sisters) are now into Skype it is great you can have conference calls and no typing (like that) or you can have one on one and actually see the person you talk 2.  It is great if you have family away you should try it.

Last night was a little disappointing to me; I always look forward to seeing all the children in their costumes.  I only had about 10 children come and I had bought $20 worth of candy but it didn’t go to waste, I took it right down to Nancy to give out since she lives in a development and they have more children.  In fact she had a big group coming as I arrived with the candy.  Don’t know if I will do this again….

Well I guess I have rambled on enough I am sure, don’t forget to turn your clocks back tonight.  I am rather pleased that it comes at this time with the weather being like it is I have  tended  to sleep a little later in the morning…so hopefully I will get up in time to go make the drinks at church.

Please take good care of you and keep in touch...

Lots of Love
