Well here it is almost Thanksgiving and I have lots of work a head of me yet. I am sure it is the same for you. The weather here has been great...I love the cooler weather but I know I am counted among the few. It has gotten into the 30's here this week at night but it brings back good memories for me.
Always enjoy working the launches, it brings me back to reality if nothing else. No launch is the same and it is always thrilling. One of the things I learned this time was someone's Mom's old time recipe for diarrhea...yep you put 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon of pepper in 5 or 6 ounces of the coldest water you can get. That way you don't feel the pepper going down. Then drink another 6 ounces or so of cold water behind it. If it is really bad, take the whole 1/2 teaspoonful. He told me that he has been doing it for at least 65 years. That was all his Mother ever gave them for an upset/runny stomach! Besides, the pepper/water doesn't look as bad as the Pepto-Bismol, and is not as effective! Haven't tried it yet but I remember Mom telling us how to clear your sinus up with a small glass of water and salt. Then you take your finger and put it in each nostril and believe me it works... Now they have the same thing on the shelves at the store only it is a genie lamp but works in the same manner
Got to say Dad was a little down when I got there on Saturday. For years he went to the general practitioner who didn't seem to care if he came or not. Now he has one that is right on it and he is going to doctor's left and right. I think it is wonderful that this Dr. cares about how he is doing and like I told him he wants to live to be a 100 and that is what they are trying to help him to do. Lana has just been wonderful through all of this she has been going to all Dr. appointments because like Dad says he doesn't always hear what they are saying.
We chose another restaurant to try this week, we went to Carrabba's and Dad enjoyed it. They gave us a big salad and bread first and of course you eat all that you almost full. So he wasn't able to finish the beautiful piece of salmon he got but he did enjoy what he ate.
On Monday I had a Local Planning Agency meeting in Viera. Not to much on the agenda so we are hoping with the new commissioners sworn in they will let us go to one meeting a month if the agenda is not a long one.
Cocoa had a busy week this week (for her anyway) on Tuesday she went to get beautiful and Thursday was her yearly trip to the Vet. Since she hates to ride in the car I am sure it was very memorable for her.
Poor Lana has been taking Dad to all his Dr. appointments plus working 12 hour shifts. I had said that I would take him any time that was necessary and on Thursday it was necessary. Dad was scheduled for a ecco cardiogram at 9 and a stress test at 10. There was no way she could work 12 hours on Wed night and then take him and go to work again at 6 so I was called in for transportation. I left here about 7:30 and we got to the lab about 8:45. They took him in about 9:30 and we were finished about 1:30. Long day for both of us but I did get to watch some adorable older people taking care of each other. Mostly women taking care of their husbands but men also taking care of their wives. They looked so cute coming hand and hand I guess that is what sums it up. Then daughters with their Dad's or Mom's and son's also. It is funny you knew it was their daughter or son you could see that they looked like their parents. Got to say I am one of the ones (like Dad) that hates to wait but I learned a lot about life that day.
Krista is taking a speech class on line. It is something I was not happy to take but it is a requirement but if it was me I would have taken it in class which I think she is learning a little late. She has to give her speech in front of at least 7 people and of course it has to be recorded, which she did on Wed evening but when they watched it on Thursday there were streaks going through the video so it had to be done over. Then it has to be mailed...you can't take it to the teacher, you have to mail it. That can get expensive...hope she doesn't have many more to do.
Yesterday was Baxley Day and all went well. Always makes me sad this time of year when I know they will not have Thanksgiving like most of us do. They are on Meals on Wheels so Wednesday will be their last meal that they get until the following Monday. We now have their angel list and several of them have asked for jackets I sure hope with this cool weather they had something to keep them warm.
Today is Diana and Dan's 28th anniversary!! Got to be a good day Diana, you don't have to work Happy Anniversary to you both, and tomorrow is Dan's birthday want to wish him a very special day! (wish I could say he was 21 (sure would make me a lot younger) but just lets say in is in the middle of his life! Then a very special birthday wish to Ann she will celebrate on the 27th and we all will celebrate with her because it is Thanksgiving Day and she is someone that we all can be thankful for!
My dear friend Elaine is a fantastic gardener (did you ever notice I have several friend that are but it doesn't rub off on me) She has all kinds of plants growing and she sent me this picture of one of her orchid that was blooming this week. Isn't it beautiful!!! This is certainly the picture of the week!!!
Had lunch with Karen this week, she is doing quite well with her horse Beau. No doubt about it she is crazy about that horse and I am sure he is crazy about her the way she spoil/loves him!
Please take good care of you and keep in touch...thanks so much for your prayers...and have a great Thanksgiving!
Lots of Love
