Good morning all another week has flown by and can't say I have gotten that much accomplished. Not a lot to talk about this week so I will just ramble. I swear this becomes a real shore sometimes.
Dad and I had a nice visit on Saturday. I always take Cisco a treat and he sure loved the ones I took. Sister Judy recommended a bully stick and believe me he was crazy about that. Cocoa will not chew on anything that isn't a real bone and she doesn't get much of those believe me.
A frightening thing happen on Sunday morning or at least I thought it was. I had gone to the church and fixed the drinks and was sitting on the back porch drinking my hot chocolate when I heard way off in the distance someone yelling HELP! As most of you know we live out in the country and I had no idea where it was coming from. I heard it twice and then nothing, I had no idea of what to do, if I reported it I had no idea where it was coming from…I just pray that whoever it was got the help!
Got a nice note from friend J’mee who now lives in the Atlanta area, she tells me the gas shortage is very real there. I have to say from the few I heard from the gas their was the highest. $3.94.
Also, I heard from Lynn Adams who I hadn't heard from in a long time. Gosh she is having a lot of medical problems. One of them are her kidneys due to her diabetes, one kidney is almost not working and is enlarged and inflamed, the other is working about half time. Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers.
Got a note from Sister-in-law Sue in NJ who tells me that my niece Susan is having a very serious operation this week. She is having her large bowel removed. Gosh we are lucky; please also keep her in your thoughts and prayers. But the good news from her is the gas in NJ where she lives is $3.32 and they don't have to pump it themselves
Each week I write this in a word document, then check the spelling. When I put a smiley face I make a : and then a ) and it makes a smiley face but for some reason when I transfer it over to my e-mail that turns into a J. I finally realized that last week so if you were wondering where that came from…that is why. I will try real hard in the future to catch it.
I was so surprised to hear that we will not be launching in Oct. It seems the backup computer on the Hubble has shut down, now they have to figure out just what to do to fix it. From what I hear it will at least be February 2009 before that happens.
Another personal problem, not much of one for most people but it has become a dilemma for me. I pull my weeds and put them in a large plastic bag. I only fill them so full because it is hard for Bill to carry them. A couple of weeks ago the County decided that they would not take yard trash in bags! In fact the man on the truck slashes the bag to make sure it isn't yard trash. You have to put yard trash now in a container. Well our house sets quite a way back from the road and it will almost be impossible for Bill to wheel or drag a container of that size out to the road. I called the County on it and was told if my husband was unable to do that they needed a slip from the Doctor saying that and they would pick it up at our garage. Bill says there is no way he is going to do that. His solution is to get a garbage can and he lifts it on the wheel barrel and takes it out. Well I know in my mind that is never going to happen. So that leaves me getting a garbage can with wheels and I try to get it out to the road…oh well I know that is a minor problem but it seems to be growing in my mind. J
Everyone knows not to talk about politics but I certainly will be glad when it is over. It is terrible the jokes they say about both Presidential candidates….as well as the half truths. Called me blinded, but I just open them see what they are and delete them…the first sentence will do it. Here in our County we have an incumbent that is running for Property Appraiser that is being investigated by the State for doing something illegal. It certainly doesn't look good for him but on the other hand his opponent was arrested for drunken driving…and from what I hear is a real butt, to me neither one is a good choice. I guess our only choice is to vote for the incumbent and hope the State will remove him, and then we will have a third choice. But thank God we live in a Country where we do have a choice good or bad!
Frogs, we got frogs and I don't mean a few the places are loaded with little frogs about the size of a dime. Every morning I have to skim them off the pool but some do manage to sink. I am told that once we dry out they will go away and believe me I hope so.
Sister Joyce will start next week on the Ombudsman Program for the state of Maine as well as the Federal Government. I am sure that most of you know what that is but I didn't. She will represent the Seniors to make sure that their voice is heard. She will investigate complaints made by Seniors to make sure that their rights are exercise. She will be there to give them information, and see that they get the services that are provided for them. I really admire her for this, wish I could do that but my field is not hands on….I will do anything I can to help but just can't do one on one.
Well I guess I have rambled on enough….the weather here has been a little cooler and easier to work outside.
Please take good care of you and keep in touch...
Lots of Love
