September, 6, 2008

Good morning all hope you have had an interesting last two weeks. Our's certainly was...I feel so badly for those people that were hit with a lot of water damage. (My sister Lana was one of them) Bless her heart she had to throw out just about all her furniture (couch, chairs etc) Every time we have a bad rain storm like Fay she has water trying to get into her house. She does not carry flood insurance because of the cost. I have been told the reason for her flooding is that both of her neighbor's are higher than she is. She and Sheri have been working their butts off trying to get all the water out of her home. She has applied to FEMA for help.

The water has gone down a lot here on Crisafulli Rd, but there is still water sitting in many properties. That Sunday after the storm I saw dead fish on the side of the road. The smell was awful for awhile but that also seems to have calmed down. The total amount of rain here in this area was 29 inches. Lots of water that is for sure.

Our yard was a mess as I told you we had big limbs and lots of branches lying everywhere. The person that mows our yard came but was unable to do so because of the mess. Todd came to the rescue again and pretty much picked it all up. Bless his heart he got bitten on both his hands and feet from all the ants in the yard. Thankfully we got the lawn mowed this week, the grass was so tall it looked like hay. Bill tells me that will not hurt the grass but somehow I feel otherwise.

As I have been telling you I just knew my computer was going, it was getting slower and slower and made this noise when it was off. I was checking my mail lasts Thursday evening before I went to bed when all of a sudden there was a pop and it went to Computer Heaven! I tell you I was lost come Friday morning without my computer...Bill was lost for me wanted me to go right out then and get one. But I consulted my experts to find out what I should get...you never know they change so quickly.

From all I have heard from people they do not like Vista and it comes on all of them now. Anyway with Dad's help I bought my new dell from Best Buy and am now pretty much back in business. I know nothing about computers I just want them to work. Sheri check out my old computer and tells me it was fried...how that happen I don't know but she took the mother board out of it and is going to retrieve my stuff...thankfully. Especially my pictures...

Friend Karen and I met for lunch on Wednesday and solved all the political problems that the county and the US is having that is the good news the bad news is no one will listen to our answers.

Pat and David have been in Williamsburg, VA and D.C. this past week on vacation. If the pictures that they took are any indication of a good time they had a wonderful time.

Thursday I had to go into work for training for my volunteer job. Actually it wasn't training it was updating us on all the new things that are happening at the center. Gosh it was long winded, each participant was only supposed to talk 15 minutes but you know that never happened. The good thing about it was we received a free lunch and it was a nice one at that! We also got our new badges but just like everything else it isn't the final badge. The new ones are supposed to have chips in them but the volunteer ones are not ready as yet.

Got my hair and nails done on Thursday afternoon because Nancy shop closed down because of the Hanna coming out way. The decision was made on Tuesday and thankfully Hanna really didn't bother us to badly. Some rain and wind but that is all. The sad thing is just a little water put people back in danger again. Now we have Ike coming next week, you don't want to wish it on someone else but we certainly don't want him here.

One of the gals in my Federally Employed Women's group celebrated her 55th birthday on Thursday and about 14 of met to help her celebrate it was great fun.

Want to wish dear Sue a very happy Birthday on Monday, Hope it is the best one yet! I am sorry if I missed anyone...I lost my faithful reminder when my computer crashed.
This is where I miss my old computer I had a reminder with all the birthday and anniversary's on it. Dumb me I can't even remember what it was called but it was a great reminder and it stayed on my screen all the time.

Really looking forward to sister Judy's arrival today, just hope we don't have too much excitement while she is here (like a visit from Ike).

Please take good care of you and keep in touch...

Lots of Love
