Well how was your week? It has been a fairly busy week here. I have been on the road a lot. Which isn’t too good considering the price of gas? By the way how high is it in your area?
I had this bright idea to fix up the flower bed at Dad’s; it certainly doesn’t look that big so it would be a snap to do right? Wrong, everything went smoothly at first I started some crown of throne plants to put there and they did well. Stopped at Home Depot got the screening to stop the weed and two bags of white marble stone to dress it up.
Got down to Dad’s and Judy jumped right on it had them planted in no time, screening and all. But guess what there wasn’t enough stone….so on Sunday I had Diana pick up another three bags thinking that would do it…no way Judy estimates that it will need another four bags :) William has said that he will put them out for me when I bring them and I certainly appreciate that because those bags are heavy. So much for one project!
On Saturday evening Dad, Judy and I tried the Outback for dinner. We enjoyed our food and found them to be very people minded. Dad says we will go back.
Judy rode back to Merritt Island with Diana on Sunday. We met Nancy at Chili’s and had a nice dinner. Then we split a desert, gosh I love that melted mountain choc. Or whatever it is call. It is so big too much for one person but just right for the four of us. I guess I won’t get to have that again until Helen comes. :)
On Monday I took Judy to the airport in Orlando, I hated to see her go and I know that we all will really miss her. Like Dad said she is a breath of fresh air!
On Tuesday I attended the NASA Alumni Meeting in Cocoa Beach. The speaker was the Director of Human Resources at Kennedy. She thought that she was bring good news to us about the new vehicle when actually her message was that the new vehicle won’t require as many people as the shuttle so you know what that means. Talking about that please keep Diana & Dan in your prayers to my knowledge right now he has not been picked up with the new 10 year contract that has just been awarded. The new contract starts the first of Oct. I know it is very stressful at their house.
Going back to Sat., for a minute when I got in my car it said that the right rear tire was low. Now I am sure that many of you are experts at doing the simple thing of putting air in your tires but as of Sat. I wasn’t. But a young lady told me how to do it and it worked just fine. I put .75 cents in and used about .5cents worth and filled up the tire. Everything was fine until I got in the car on Tuesday to go somewhere and it said it was low again. Well Bill has compressor so I decided to come back home and put the air in…But Bill had a different idea. He wanted to put in “fix a flat” he just knew that would do it.
Well bless his heart when he got down to put it in he couldn’t get up so I had to help him. Instead of putting something in the tire he took air out. It is hell when you get old isn’t it :) . So off to BJ I went to get it fixed. The good news about this whole thing is they took the nail out and fixed it for nothing. I was really surprised so if you buy your tires at BJ’s you get the tires cheaper (I have found) and if you have something go wrong with the tire they will fix it for nothing. I think that is good news!
We went to the VA on Wednesday where Bill had Living Will done as well as giving me power of attorney for medical issues. I couldn’t believe it he didn’t make one decision on that form he left it all up to me. While we were there I also check to see if anything had been done about the letter asking if he could have his surgery here and guess what the Dr. is on vacation and won’t be back until next week!.
Really looking forward to Sunday Pat is coming over to take me to lunch. Have not seen him since Todd’s graduation and I miss his smiling face.
Speaking of Pat he will celebrate his birthday on Friday of this coming week, also good friend Elaine will celebrate on Thursday! Hope you both have the happiest of days!
Todd was supposed to come out yesterday but we couldn’t get together on the time for him to come. I was out running about so hopefully he will be able to make it this morning. One of the reasons I was running around was I was trying to find a large terracotta pot (plastic) like the one I had in the yard already. It has been out there about 10 years and it has finally given up to the sun. It has cracked in several places and the stone I put in the bottom of it is coming out.
I looked on Thursday but could not find one but I did find one in my search today. Thank goodness I thought that I was going to have to buy a black one and paint it. But I hit pay dirt and I won’t have to concern myself with painting it. But believe me it will be a job for him it is a large plant that he will have to transfer. I am so pleased that Judy suggested that I make a list of things I want him to do, that way I get more stuff done for the money :) .
Someone sent me pictures of the ballon fest that they had in northern Aroostook County. Gosh it was beautiful, looks like the leaves are beginning to turn. I will miss it!
Well that seems to be all the news from my end this week. Please take good care of you and keep in touch...
