July 5, 2008

Good Morning all, gosh the time has flown by since we have last spoken. How is the weather where you are? Can't complain about the weather while I was on my trip it was just wonderful! It was warm but not too warm…people were complaining because it was hot but it felt great to me.

A few tidbits I learned while I was on vacation (smile) Got a little television time in when I first went to Judy’s and I have got to say that I found out a lot of interesting things. First of all those channel's that sell things are making a killing I will tell you that. Especially the jewelry channels…gosh I can't believe there are so many people out there buying jewelry….or just stones….rubellite tourmaline, Imperial Zircon have no idea what they are but you can get these and many others for a low low price or with three flex payments…can't get over how well they sell on TV!

I also learned how prejudice that Andrew Jackson was against the Indians….even though he used them in many of his battles I guess I never put him and the “Trail of Tears” together. What a horrible thing for this county it certainly was on the same vein as Hitler. Then of course I also found out about how Sundae’s came into being… In the 1880 the corner pallor was the place to hang out and of course the Ice Cream Soda was very popular.

The Pastor’s at that time came to believe that the soda was as addictive as alcohol and forbid the drinking of them on Sunday. Well business was so slow that many of the ice cream pallor’s had to close until someone came up with the ice cream Sunday….The later spelling "sundae" is believed to have originated in Evanston, Illinois as a less blasphemous name for the ice cream treat…interesting don't you think? Or maybe you knew this all along (smile)

On Saturday Judy and I took off for Turnbil, CT to attend my new niece to be Erica bridal shower. Sisters Joyce, Helen and niece Liz joined us there. What a great time we had, and the gifts were fantastic. She got gifts that were only given at Weddings when I got married…I thought that maybe I should get married again if you are going to get gifts like that. (smile)

Niece Liz headed back to NH after the shower because her whole family were to attend a big baseball game the next day so she couldn't hang around. The sisters got a nice suite to stay in for the night and then Kyle realized he had no place to stay…so we had a couch just for him. We all went out and had a lovely dinner and by that time the older ones were ready for bed.

Won't tell you who they were but the were the first ones up in the morning and some people were not happy to be awake at 5:30. (smile) Of to breakfast we went signing Happy Birthday to Kyle many times. He turned 27 on that day! Then we were off for an adventure…Somehow we managed to get all our luggage in Judy’s car and off we went to the Mohegan Sun for a brief visit. We were there a little over an hour and we were on our way to Milford, NH. (smile)

While I was gone Kyle, Judy, Charlie and Lisa celebrated their birthday's. Happy belated Birthday's all!

Had a wonderful time in NH as usual, Liz and Rik are great hosts! Joyce, Jeff and Helen left for Maine on Monday but Judy and I decided to stay another day. On Tuesday we took off for Boston where we met Jess, Casey and Erica for brunch. That Boston is a busy place it certainly isn't a place that I would like to drive everyday. Then back to Judy we went. I had a wonderful visit with all and the weather was great. Thanks everyone for having me!

Everything is about the same here, it has been quite warm with rain in the afternoon. Yesterday I started weeding and believe me there is a lot of that to do. Plus suddenly I seem to have a lot of ants in the yard…well it is always something.

Granddaughter Stacey had a car accident on Weds. It was not her fault and thank goodness she was hurt, but the car will be in the shop for a while.

The big thing now is to get ready for the big wedding on Aug 9th. So soon I will be returning to New England…

Hope you had a great 4th of July and remember take good care of yourself!

Lots of Love

“There is no such thing as a 'self-made' man. We are made up of thousands of others. Everyone who has ever done a kind deed for us, or spoken one word of encouragement to us, has entered into the make-up of our character and of our thoughts, as well as our success.” George M. Adams (1878-1962, American Author)
