July 12, 2008

Hi everyone hope that you have had a wonderful week…well not wonderful but an uneventful week! Mine has been about normal, I had to laugh I saw a neighbor that lives down the road from me and he said I sure see your car going a lot! And I told him that my husband thinks I should have a sign on my car that says on the road still! (smile)

First of all I need to apologize for the mistake I made last week. Stacey is fine and she certainly wasn't hurt. I tried to explain to my friend Lori that my spell check on AOL picks up all the don'ts, wasn't and didn't…in other words any thing that has an apostrophe on it for some reason most of the time it just changes it to the same thing and I get in a little hurry and say ok change it so when it did wasn't I must have still been asleep! Sorry! But I really don't have to worry about it any longer because this week my spell check on word seems to be missing…so I will only have my AOL spell check so I shouldn't have any excuses in the future. Although speaking for myself only I think I do pretty good for writing this at 5 am in the morning...

Just a few things about my plane trip…don't get me wrong the flight was great but there has been something's added just in case you are going to take a trip. When I arrived at the airport there was a sign in front of Jet Blue saying that each bag cost a two dollars for handling…well I usually give the sky cap a dollar a bag so I really didn't think much about it. Well I found out that that is what they charge you per bag…the airline not the bag handler…so he isn't getting any tip if everyone thought as I do. No they don't charge you for your 1St bag yet so they say…but they certainly are starting. Another thing about luggage, I believe that 98% of the people that live in this country has a black suite case with a red & white ribbon attached! (smile) So if you are out to buy new luggage, I would consider buying something another color but black! Just be prepared, then on the flight they now do not take cash! If you want to watch a movie, you better have a credit card.

Had a nice visit with Dad last Saturday, think he was glad to see me back. While I was at Judy’s she told me about this product that you can get at the Vet to put pills in for your dog. Well thank goodness the only pill Cocoa has to take is her heart worm pill and that is no problem. But in the last few months she has been increasing frightened by thunderstorms. You know here in Florida you can get a lot of those. I went to the Vet and picked up a pack of “Pill Poppers” in order to avoid the fight I have with her when I give her a “thunderstorm pill”. While I was there I got some for Dad and believe it or not Cisco likes them and is taking his pill easier!

On Thursday, Helen went to Albuquerque to spend a couple weeks with her son and daughter in law and of course to spoil this wonderful grandchildren! Hope she has a great time!

On Monday evening I had to attend my Brevard County Planning and Zoning Board. The only real interesting thing about that was (or so I thought) Life is not easy…10 years ago the applicant’s daughter got a goat for her birthday, they own a little over an acre of property, they have also acquire three family pet ducks. Well two and a half years ago a neighbor turned him for having those pets. So first of all to make it legal they had to change the zoning on their property and go through all of that, then they had to go to the Board of Adjustments to get approval also for their change of zoning. Then they had to come before us again and asked a conditional Use permit to have those particular animals! It took them 2 ½ years to get it approved not even mentioning the money it cost them! The gentleman said he is not sure he would go through all of this again but he mostly they would they love their pets!

Friend Bet is off being a tourist, plans to go to OK, Dakota and S. Dakota…they are in their vacation trailer. They should be back sometime the middle of Aug.

Thursday was a busy day for me…if you can call this busy. I went out to the press site and had a familiarization briefing about the up coming launch in October. It is the Hubble repair missing and it is quite an undertaking for NASA. You talk about clean while they are working on the whole payload it is being done in a 100,000 clean environment! They ask people not to wear makeup or deodorant because they give off gases.

One of the items that are part of the payload is called the SLIC or the Super Lightweight Interchangeable Carrier. They are going to replace an existing camera on Hubble. Not to get into that too much but when they remove the existing carrier they will have to remove 111 bolts. Now I don't know about you but I have a hard time without gloves on can you imagine how much fun that will be removing those bolts? Anyway I am pleased that they are going to fix the Hubble it has taken some wonderful pictures on the Universe. Oh an another piece of information while I remember it….(smile) the payload itself weighs 11 tons.

Got several Birthday’s this week some you all know, some you don't! Of course to start off with is my Nancy she will celebrate on Sunday. Wish I could say she will be 21 and I sure she wishes she could say it also! Then Dear friend Betty will celebrate on the 15th, and great nephew Ian will celebrate on the 17th. (He is the only one I know that is amazing at math, how do I know? He told me so!) Want to wish you all the very best of Birthdays and many more to come!

Thursday evening I attended the North Merritt Island Advisory Board meeting. We only had the one zoning item that involved a conditional use permit for a restaurant to serve alcohol. The development behind where the restaurant wanted to go turned out in force. They used all kind of excuses of why it should not be allowed. It was turned down by our board because it was not compatible to the area. In my mind I voted against it but I really was not a strong vote. The man could have a restaurant there without the alcohol permit but he also could have a much heavier zoning there without approval from the neighborhood because the zoning is for a Planned Industrial Park.

Well I have another busy week coming up so I will hit the ground running and hope I get everything accomplished. Remember take good care of you and have a wonderful week!

Lots of Love
