Good day all hope that you have had a wonderful week. Can’t say mine was to exciting but it was a good week. Got some work done in the yard but as I have said before it is a job that is never done. Wish the flowers would grow like the weeds I would have a beautiful garden. The weather has been quite nice but we really have the wind blowing which really dries everything out. But I can’t complain it is 90 degree’s yet.
On Saturday Dad and I had a nice visit. One of the things I learned from him this week was how people kept their food cold when they did have refrigeration like we do now. He told about putting things in wells but also about having a wooden box that they put ice in to keep things cold. He told about a man that would cut ice all winter long and store it and in the summer time he sold the ice. I guess my next question and I never thought of it then was how did he keep it cold? I don’t know but I find those things interesting don’t you?
I am so pleased Bill got the water pipe fixed so I can water my flowers. By the time Todd read my e-mail he had it fixed.
Todd is already for his prom on the 2nd. He was going to get a white tux but somehow they talked him into the black. Think this is funny, he doesn’t have a girl friend right now but he has asked a friend to go with him. When Diana asked him how much the prom tickets were he said $40 so he would need one, so she said what about Pam (what ever her name is) and he said she is not my date she is just going with me she will buy her own. Then Diana had to explain to him how that worked (smile). That Todd is out to save money anyway he can!
Speaking of Diana the Post Office had a mail count here about a month ago. I guess it was nation wide (not sure) what they do is count every piece of mail that you process. You pay depends on the count. Diana has the larges rural route here on the Island. Well with the count she lost 5 ½ hours which amounts to a day off for her. So now she will have to work every other Saturday in order to maintain her pay. The reason I think it was all over was when I was talking to Judy she mentioned that her mail lady lost her day off in the count. What a mess, I am sure it affected your mail person also.
Bill had his final visit with the eye Doctor at the VA. He is seeing great as I have noticed. I had quite a break there for awhile. I am terrible about just putting things down and leaving them, when he couldn’t see them I got away with it but now he is always telling me what I forgot to put up. (smile) He now has his license and believe me he is happy!
William was over to Dad’s this week and mowed, edged etc. on the lawn. Dad was quite pleased with the job that he did.
The ones I heard from had never heard of stuff peppers with mashed potatoes either. Glad I am not losing my mind completely yet.
In our family April is the month for Birthday’s and the strange thing is we only have one week that no one has a birthday. Mine was on the 5th; Dawn’s on the 19th and then today is Diana’s 21’st birthday! Happy Birthday Sweetie, you are the greatest!
Bet is now wearing a boot, it seems she reinjured and old stress fracture. Doesn’t surprise me she goes like her pants are on fire. Sometimes I think she forgets how young we are (smile). She is a sweetheart just hate it when she hurts.
Next week I plan to go buy myself a new printer. I have pretty much decided on the HP Officejet L7600 series. It is pretty much like I have only much newer. We have the graduation coming up it will be put to good use. Any bad words about that printer?
I am so excited I am now starting to see some improvement in my yard. Right outside my screen porch I have one pentia flower that really attracts the hummingbirds. They grow to be about 5 ft tall and spread out, so if one will drawn them eight will make them quite happy. One of my favorite things to do is sit on my back porch and watch the birds. Want to be able to share them with you but I still haven’t learned how to download pictures from my new camera but I think soon I will give it a try anyway. Had a couple of people that said they would help me but I guess you learn best when you learn on your own. Next week if the good Lord is willing I hope to get about 10 bags of mulch and one large bag of potting soil so I can say the area right next to the house is ready.
Next week I have several meetings to go to so it should be pretty busy. Next week will be particularly hard for Dad, please remember him in your prayers.
Hope all is well with you and that you have a wonderful week, remember take good care of you!
Lots of Love
