Again I would like to wish you a Happy New Year! I have got to say that I would not have seen the New Year come in if it wasn’t for my neighbors. I was fast asleep when about 5 minutes to 12 the firecrackers started to go off. I believe all my immediate neighbors had a stash of fireworks because they continued until about 12:20 or so. So I certainly seen the New Year come in, can’t say that I was real happy about it but what can you do?
Just want to share this site with you before I forget it. Sister Lana passed it on to me while I am looking for a new camera. Cabincoupon.com It is a great site and has coupons for purchases that you would not believe. They also have printable coupons for you to use in the store.
Well I am sure that all of you up north really feel sorry for us here in Florida, we got some cold weather! It was supposed to be the coldest that it had gotten in five years. It was cooler alright about 37 here on Thursday morning but everything looks like it survived. Although Diana called me and said that they had snow flurries at her house. I took my one tomato plant that has about six tomatoes on it and put it in the garage it was not heavy to lift. Then my next concern was my poinsettias, but unlike the tomato plant I had put rocks for drainage in those pots and was unable to lift them.
I worried about putting something over them that it might break the stems but did so anyway (some of the stems did break). One of the things that made it so cold was the strong gust of wind that we had. When I went to bed everything was covered but when I got up, nothing was covered. It doesn’t look like they are the worst for wear but we will wait and see.
Well I have not got my new camera as yet, can’t really decide which one I would like. But have replaced my can opener. Really liked that Gizmo though don’t think they make it any more.
Bill went yesterday to get his eyes checked. Gosh it was scary to learn just how much he can’t see. Glad I am the driver. Anyway the Dr. confirmed what we suspected he has cataracts in both eyes. One eye is worse than the other of course. The Dr. said he would get in touch with the VA and that they would contact him in a few days to make arrangements for the surgery. My friend Elaine has one more visit with her Dr and then they will set a date for her.
I got a note from school friend Shirley a while back. I guess Washington State had quite a storm washing out roads, bridges it was awful. She sent me pictures and it looked more like a hurricane rather than a winter storm. Those pictures were scary.
Wonderful news from Lana in two months she has lost 51 pounds, look good and feels great! Isn't that wonderful!
About the only thing really exciting that happened to me this week was I saw a red tail hawk up close and personal. It was sitting about 10 feet from me, and it sit there for about 10 mintues. I swear he can turn his head around 99 degree’s. Gosh it is a big bird, and really beautiful. Sure wouldn’t want a fight with that one that is for sure.
I started last week asking for things for other people different isn’t it. I asked that Ian (my nephew) get his wish in 2008 he wants a cell phone. (He has wanted one for over a year that I know of) Some kind of a decision that his parents made that his brother didn’t get one his until he was 14. This day and age you really need a cell phone for emergences, don’t you think? Oh and the other thing I wish for in 2008 is that my sister Joyce will get her GPS. You know there is a big difference in needing and wanting. If I get real good at this maybe I will start my wish list for 2008.
Hope all goes well with you and yours this week and remember take good care of you! If you have a spare moment, drop me a line.
Lots of Love
a (aa) Mom`g`
