Can’t say the weather has been great here but it has been a lot better than some of you have had. It has been cooler and we have gotten some much needed rain. I did get a few things done in the yard but not as much as I should have. It is hell when you get old, you have all the best intentions and then you put it off. (smile)
Well last Sunday turned out to be an interesting day; we were supposed to get a 60% chance of rain. Most of the day it was beautiful then it started to cloud up around three. At four the sky opened up with all kinds of gusto and it poured. The reason I am telling you this is I discovered that something was clogging my gutter on the porch. We may need the rain but believe me I didn’t need it on the porch. It leaked everywhere it could possibly do so. Everything was soaking wet. So a light bulb went off in my head that the gutter must be filled with leaves.
So Monday I went out and got the ladder to climb up there and clean them out. When my cleaning lady came out and said what are you doing and I told her, no way she said and up the ladder she went…..no leaves. There was a ball caught in the drain and was blocking the water. I was most thankful for her doing that she was up, ball out and down while I would have just been thinking about it. What a blessing! Then about fifteen minutes later she broke one of the globes on my dinning room light…which I also thought was a blessing because I would like a new one but Bill found another one so we are good to go.
Ann Murray will be at the King Center while my sister Joyce is here and she wanted to go see her, so over the weekend we obtained tickets for Dad, Joyce, Lana, Sheri and myself to go see her on the 26 of February. I am having a hard time believing that Dad will go but he promised Joyce he would and after all she is coming all the way from Maine to see him that is the least that he can do.
Our family has a busy year coming up. Dad has been a strong advocate of all our life of us all supporting each other and to always be there when one of us need each other, which somehow he ingrained in us so we all try to attend every important event in each others lives. Helen granddaughter Jodi graduates from a University in San Francisco in May and just a week later, grandson Todd graduates from High School. Then in June there will be a bridal shower for Erica and of course the big wedding in August. I had really hoped to go to Jodi graduation because it is a special time and besides that I have never been to San Francisco but since her graduation and Todd’s are so close I may have to skip that one. But there is a lot of traveling in store this year. May not get to do my leave peeping (smile)
We have a very special birthday this week; Rand son Jacob will turn 8 on the 26th. He is a very special boy! Happy Birthday Jake!
Forgot to mention that last week I attended a FEW meeting, we are busy planning our seminar that we hold every year in Cocoa Beach. It is quite an undertaker I tell you, lots of responsibility for some. Me I just run my mouth and do the 50/50, easy way out. J By the way I wore my new angel pin that Liz gave me for Christmas and got lots of compliments on it. Thanks again Liz.
I am sick about my tomato plant; gosh it was beautiful and so loaded with tomatoes. Everyone told me it isn’t the time of year for tomatoes, how does it know…the weather is great and surly it doesn’t get any colder here than it does in Maine in the summer.
On Tuesday I went to my NASA Alumni meeting which is also held in Cocoa Beach. They had asked five of us to tell about ourselves and what we did at NASA. I was nervice about doing that because (most) of the people that belong are engineers and very important people. Although I feel like I had an important job at NASA it really comes low on the totam pole. It started off just as I suspected with a shuttle launch director, and an Applo launch director. Gosh what interesting people they are. Then an everyday person like me spoke kind of boring then it was suggested that we finish up next month because we were out of time. I was quite relieved because I had not written anything and was just going to talk through it. Now I think maybe I should write down what I am going to say. But, I have another month to think about that.
I was wondering if you have any suggestion for me for my Easter Tree.
Well my new camera arrived this week, so far I have learned to put the date and time on it so it is ready to go. Now I have to learn how to put the pictures on the computer…that means I will have to get down on the floor on my back under this computer desk, which somehow discourages me to do it immediately but hopefully in the next week I will try it.
On Monday evening I will be attending Todd’s football banquet. I am sure he will get some recognision for his great efforts but we will see.
Well so far my wishes for 08 are doing well! Joyce got her GPS and is quite happy with it, Ian got a chance to get an old cell phone but he turned it down. Guess he doesn’t realize yet at his age you have work your way up the ladder (smile).
I havent gotten any response for my idea for my birthday present but I still think it is a great idea. I guess I could put all kinds of suggestions in this and it would pass by quickly. (smile)
Instead of doing the smiley faces I have decided to write smile, because for those of you that have a newer version of windows the smiley face comes out as a j and several people have wonder what that was…so hope that will take care of that problem.
Yesterday we did the Baxley Manor delivery, they are always so grateful for what we bring them. Thank goodness we are able to help. Gave the lady the Bible and she was so happy!
Got another busy week coming up so that should keep me out of trouble at least for this week. Want to remind you that I will be at the Church convention next weekend so there will be no Just Chatting next Saturday anyway.
Hope all goes well with you and yours this week and remember take good care of you! If you have a spare moment, drop me a line.
Lots of Love
a (aa) Mom`g`
