December 22, 2007

Hope this finds you all well and in good spirits. How is the weather where you are? Gosh it has been wonderful here, when it rains in does it mostly in the middle of the night, couldn’t asked for anything better than that could you? Really haven’t been doing much in my yard this week except watching my one tomato plant grow. I am so excited it has two tomatoes on it…maybe I will be more successful with it than Bill is.

Had a nice visit with Dad and his hand is healing slowly. He has decided that he will wait until the first of the year to return to his Silver Sneekers group.

On Monday evening my two granddaughters Krista and Stacey came over and put up my Christmas tree. Then they decorated it. I tried to start that tradition when they were all small. I would never put up the tree until they were all here to help. But as you know as they get older they are so busy and they can’t all come at the same time. But they did a wonderful job and I always enjoy it when they come.

I did the darnest thing this week, I still don’t know how I did it but I pushed some button on this computer and everything turned upside down. It was so strange the top was on the bottom and vise versa. I didn’t know what to do, never have had that happen to me before so I called Lana’s friend Sheri who is all knowing on the computer. Thank the dear Lord she looked it up and told me what to do to reverse it. It was strange.

Well I went back to Target to see if I could find those earrings that I loved but guess what they didn’t have them. Diana suggested that I should try Target in Melbourne today to see if they have them. But I am just not a shopper not even for earrings I love.

Had lunch with Karen on Wednesday and again we solved the problems of the world. (Now don’t you feel better?) She is so excited after many years she finally convinced her husband to decorate their house for Christmas. I went by last night and it is beautiful Karen!

Much of this week has been busy with getting all the presents for Baxley! Of course like in the years past a few people that took names disappeared, others gave really small gift cards but thanks to many wonderful people we were able to fix that for most of them. One thing sticks in my mind a lady asked for a large print Catholic Bible and she didn’t get it. The lady bought her a regular Bible. Now I really don’t know the difference between the two but felt bad that she didn’t get what she wanted. She is a small frail lady in a wheel chair. Do you know the difference in the Bibles? Thought that I would ask some friends of mine that our Catholic to see if anyone knows the difference. But all and all everyone got a gift, and that was their Christmas for most of them. One lady never opens her gift she waits to take it home to put under her tree since it is the only gift she will open on Christmas morning. We have so much to be thankful for.

Well I did my final Merritt Island Football shirt this week. Todd’s All-Star game was on Thursday in Melbourne. It will most likely be the last football game that I will go to. Got lots of compliments on the shirt and a lady even said I could have made lots of money making them for others. (I didn’t tell her how much I would have charge in making them)

Todd’s team (North) all stars won the game. Each player was promised to play at least twice but Todd played most of the game! (Told you he was good!)

Bill went for his six month check up at the VA. He is in perfect health they tell me. He really doesn’t look well but they say he is doing great so…They did make an appointment for his eyes with a Dr. in Melbourne on the 4th of Jan.

Got quite a surprise I got a call from my Uncle Omar this week, he wanted Gloria telephone number (my cousin). The last time I had talk to them (about a month ago) they were planning to sell their house and move back up north to be close to their son Jack, But as he said “they changed the water on the beans” so they had changed their plans and the have decided to stay in Florida. I had never heard that one before have you? My Mom was good with those saying but I don’t remember her ever using it. Anyway he sounded well and it was great to talk to him. It is so important for family to stay together don’t you think?

Went to get my hair and nails done yesterday and Nancy was so busy that she couldn’t fit me in. Which is great, it pays her bills and that is wonderful. Thank goodness for awhile business was quite slow and she was a nervous wreck.

Bet gave me a beautiful orchid that you plant in the ground hoping to give me something that I won’t kill. So far it is doing great!

Well here it is just a few days before the blessed holiday and I am no where near ready….Tomorrow will be bread day. I really have not done much shopping because I only got a list from Todd and he wanted a gift certificate from Ron Jon’s and a Hess’s truck J. But I am sure we will all have a wonderful time together.

My prayer for you is that you have a wonderful Christmas please remember to take good care of you!

Lots of Love
a (aa) Mom`g`
