The weather here is great, suppose to get a cold snap next week but of course it will be nothing like you where you live if you life outside of Florida. Have got some work done in the yard, had to transplant my two poinsettia’ that I had in the back the pots were too small. Also got some “walking irises” at the Church fair that I have planted. One septic tank is located right out side the screen porch and I have always had trouble growing stuff there. But I was assured by a friend that these irises have very shallow roots so hopefully they will survive there. Also have my poinsettia in pots in that spot. Looks great right now, hope it stays that way.
On Monday evening I had my Planning and Zoning meeting for the County. I take Cocoa to this groomer and she is great. I have noticed the last couple of months or so a note on her door thanking everyone for their kindness in her recent tragedy. I know I should have asked her what it was but I was concerned that it was a death and didn’t want to get into that. Well she was the first item on the agenda, she had three acres and during Labor Day while she was a way her house burnt to the ground. She cried and of course that tore people up on the board. To build a house that is required on the land she has she could not afford so she was asking to put a trailer on the property so she could still have her horses and show dogs. She also said that she and her three daughters were staying in the Econo Lodge until she could get a home there. I felt very bad for her but she did get her zoning.
I am sure that most of you know that the launch was canceled last week. It is better to be safe than sorry.
Well this is the week for my grandson’s final High School football game. I have not made my special shirt as yet I was waiting for it to be in the paper, maybe tomorrow.
I attended the Federally Employed Women’s Christmas party on Tuesday evening. As always it was a lot of fun and the fact that you get to see people that you don’t normally see is an added gift. Don’t know if you remember me telling you last year that the only thing I dislike about the party is the Chinese Auction that we have. I am always disappointed with what I end up with. Well this year I thought I would take care of that…I was in Target and I seen the most beautiful earrings and I got the idea that I would give them and then pick them myself (cause I really liked them) Well you know the Lord get even with you I picked my own gift and everyone in the room went crazy over them always wanted a pair like that was some of the comments. So I don’t need to tell you I lost the earrings…so you can win for trying, but I did get a nice angel in return.
Wednesday Dad and I learned a valuable lesson. Mine was not as bad as Dad’s. His TV went out and he decided he would take it out to the road. On his trip out the door he dropped the TV and cut up his hand badly. Thank goodness Lana was home and went over to help him. She bandage him up and she tells me the hand is looking much better (she changes the bandage everyday). She also thinks that she has convinced him that he should not try something like that again. That was a big TV and there are plenty of people that can help him, maybe not this very instance if you know what I mean. I went to Home Depot and got three large bags of soil, they were just too heavy for me and I could hardly push the cart. My back just killed me for awhile. So I have learned if I can’t get Todd or Torey to go with me I should either get the smaller bags or just go with out. On that very same day Bill went to renew his driver’s license and failed because of his eye site. I hate to say it but I bet it has been ten years since he has been to an eye doctor. He thinks he may have cataracts but he goes to his regular VA physician on the 18th hopefully we will find out then.
I want to tell you that I got the best gift this week! There are several things in the yard that needed to be done for a long time but it was really too much for me to undertake. (Some things I learn quickly others I have to learn the hard way). I had about thirty Florida birds of Paradise in my yard, they are suppose to bloom just like the regular bird of Paradise but they never have. Bet gave them to me and her’s are just beautiful so I decided to move them besides they were crowding out my regular bird of Paradise (which has never bloomed either). My great helper moved them all, with his bare hands, mind you. He says they have a better chance to live that way. What a relief to get it done, it was wonderful. I thought that I had been quite clear on what I wanted moved but somehow I goofed…he also moved my regular bird of paradise also. I decided that maybe it was meant to be…maybe they will bloom where they are now. But it was a wonderful feeling to get it done.
Bet and I had lunch at work this week with some old friends. It was so great to see them. That is one thing that I miss about not working is the good friends that I made while I was there. One of the reasons that I went out was to pick up a gift for someone at Baxley. We hope to deliver them on Thursday this week. It is always a worry if everyone will come forward with the gift that they promised. But I am hopeful that all will work out.
Hope that all goes well for you this week and remember Please take good care of you!
Lots of Love
a (aa) Mom`g`
