November 3, 2007

Good morning all, another week has flown by and really can say that I didn’t get too much done in the yard. It has been raining just about every day and the wind has really been ripping up everything including the shore line. Although Noel didn’t hit Florida the weather did reap havoc in a lot of places.

Last Saturday Dad and I went to the Olive Garden for dinner. The food was good but the strange thing was they were not serving coffee….you could have water but no coffee. The reason was that a large water main busted close to them and all the water now had to be boiled. Really don’t understand their logic doesn’t coffee have to be brewed?

On Sunday Diana & Dan had a few people over to help Todd celebrate his big 18th birthday. The few people she had over was Nancy and I J He did have a couple of friends over but it was very low keyed. I still can’t believe that he is 18! We were entertained by the puppies that swam in the pool.

On Monday Lana had her laparoscopic procedure done. Shari, Dad and I were there with her. All went smoothly (for us) not sure about how she felt about it. The first couple of days she had a rough time but thank goodness Sheri was right there to help her. She is now almost drinking normally and she is doing some walking. Please keep her in your prayers.

Can you believe all those fires out in California? It was quite scary for niece Lisa who lives in San Diego she came very close to having her family evacuated. We were all concerned for all of them Helen’s other daughter Steph lives out there also but they were safe this time. Helen was a nervous wreck it is always bad when you are so far away and there is nothing that you can do.

Dad has gone to check on the Silver sneakers group that his health plan spongers. I guess he had quite and adventure finding the right floor that they were on and of course he has to fill out all those papers, and his Doctor has to approve him going. He says he is going to try it and I think that is great!

Went to Todd’s football game last night and I thought that it was his last but I heard if this one wins and that one wins it would be us in a three way tie so there would be another game. I am sure they won the game because when I left it was 31-14. Talking about the final game I did what I thought was my final shirt also. Got a lot of compliments on it…don’t know what I am going to do now in my spare time. Each shirt I got better but it took a lot of time and believe me cutting all those letters out were not fun (but I really enjoyed doing it. Speaking of last night’s game, I always leave in the 3rd quarter (bed time you know) When I left the score was 17-14.

I drove my car to the place I always leave (both sides of the rood are filled with water from all the rain) and the gate was locked. Some how I was able to turn around and go back to the stadium in hopes of getting out the other way. That gate was locked also. So I turn around again and went back to where I was in the beginning. Decided this was meant for me to stay here. Went back in and in that time the score was now 31-14. I seen someone that looked official and asked how I could get out of there, they went with me and unlocked the gate. I really didn’t like the fact that those people that were able to park there were locked in. What if someone had an emergency?

Seen Stacey at the game last night and she is very pleased with her new job. She just bubbled as you told me of being able to be so close to the shuttles that she could touch them. She didn’t of course but was thrilled with the fact that something she had heard of all her life was so close. She has been promised that when the next shuttle is moved to the VAB for stacking they will take her over there. She also pointed out the fact that she was working with over a hundred young engineers.

Sister Joyce had cortisone shot in her knee and it looks like it has solved the problem for now. I know that pain is awful I had it a couple of years ago, don’t know if it was caused by the same thing or not but it is very painful.

Last Friday at the game I asked Krista if she would ask Torey if he would do some lifting for me. Stuff that I needed done this week, so she asked him and he said he would be free on Wednesday. I was pleased but doubtful that it would happen because after all when I asked Todd it is never when he says he will do it. When Wednesday came I made up my mind that if he didn’t cal on Thursday I would give it every effort to do it myself.

Well I just want you to know he may not end up as my grandson in law but he is what he says he is. He called me and met me at BJ’s and lifted that big pail of chlorine, and then he met me at Home Depot and lifted that extra large bag of potting soil. Followed me home and carried them to where they were supposed to be. I cannot begin to tell you how happy that it made me. And to boot he told me before he left “you now have my phone number if you ever need anything like this again just call”! I think someone did a wonderful job on training him for life!

Helen has set her arrival date as the 14th of November, we are all looking forward to her visit. The other wonderful thing about her coming she will be here for Thanksgiving so hopefully she and Dad will join us for the meal!

I am really looking forward to this week hope to get a lot done in the yard. Plus, I am going to meet Pat for lunch on Sunday, have some meetings and my new couch will be here, lots to look forward to. We hope that you all have a wonderful week and please make sure that you are good to you! Let me hear from you!

Lots of Love
a (aa) Mom ~g~
