October 20, 2007

Good morning all hope this has been a great week for you. What a difference in temps between here and Maine J I said that I bet this week I would wish I was back there! Of course I don’t want to be there if it is freezing but it has been in the high 80 and mid 90’s all week. Bill has turned the air off and the only room that is cool enough for me is my room and I thank goodness for that. But as you can see by the following I having been just living out of the bedroom.

On Saturday I went down to Dads who had just mowed his back yard. Got to say that I am sure when I am 90 I won’t be mowing my lawn. He is doing very well and needs to get out more around people but it is hard to move a mountain. He did say that Health First (his health plan) was sponsoring something called Silver Sneakers and he was thinking about joining it. Hope so he will meet people is own age who I am sure have the same thoughts about things as he does. But I am sure they will have to speak to him first or the first meeting will be his last. He use to be so outgoing but now he does wait for someone else to speak to him. (He most likely won’t be happy I said that)

We headed for the Olive Garden for dinner but when we got there the line to eat was quite long so we tried a new place called Sweet Tomatoes. It was a small place a very clean, I liked my food but Dad said his had no taste so I guess we won’t be going there again.

On Monday I had my Planning and Zoning meeting at Viera. It was at that meeting that I learned that we would not be getting $30 for expenses (travel money) that we have been getting for years. I had not opened my mail so I had not got the notice. It was cut because of budget cuts. Now this volunteer job pays just as much as my other volunteer jobs pay.

On Tuesday I attended the NASA Alumni meeting at Cape Cannerval, I also serve on that board. We had a great speaker, he use to work for NASA and he reminded us of all the spin offs that have come from the Space Program that has been a blessing in our lives. For instance dialyses, heart transplants, cat scans and of course the tires on your car as well as bungee cord, and the GPS just to name a few. Last week I mentioned about the sign that I regretted that I did not take a pictures of……….well my nephew Kyle found it on line for me and I want to share it with.

Thanks Kyle, you have relived my mind.

This week I talked to my friend Bet who with her husband pulled out over 60 Juniper bushes this week and she planted 60 new ones. I tell you that lady has more energy…I had been looking at my yard and wondering when I was going to get to it well let me tell you after she told me that I knew I had to get busy. So on Wednesday I took poor Cocoa to the beauty shop (poor thing I cut her hair before I left and she looked pitiful) I came home filled with energy. Sprayed weed killer (by the way I have yet to see the first dead blade of grass from it) Then I took on my roses big time. I could not believe it most of them were over 6 ft tall and loaded with dead roses. So I really got my work out that day.

On Thursday Bet and I arranged to meet up at work for lunch and get out picture taken for our new Homeland Security Badge. We met some old friend and got caught up with what was going on out there. I also got to see my granddaughter Stacey as well as some old friend. Then off to get our pictures taken, and of course it was not a simple task. At first they didn’t know what we were talking about but then we finally made contact with the person who knew. They will be just wonderful pictures I am sure because we couldn’t smile. I guess they wanted to see what we looked like when we were made so I put my yelling at my kids look on and that was it.

I had looked all over for a shirt in Wal-mart to make my football shirt and never found one so yesterday I went to Target and believe it or not there they were in just the right colors Black, Gold and White. So I came home and started to work on my shirt for Friday evening. It was so hot in here and nothing was working right for me. I had gotten special transfer paper for dark shirts and not one of the transfers worked ($7. for three transfer that did work) so I was sure it was the shirt so I tried the gold and was successful in the transfer…but only the front. Thursday evening I met Lana and Shari for dinner. It was very nice hope we can do that more often.

Friday morning got up at 5 and worked to finish my shirt before I went to work at the Press site. It was not real busy there we just got everything prepared for when it would be. I work every day until Tuesday except Monday.

My sister Lana will not be having her surgery on Monday as planned. She took a stress test and did not pass it; it looks like she may have some heart blockage. Please keep her in your prayers!
Pat got back from a wonderful trip to Michigan and got some great pictures here is one I would like to share with you.

We have a special Birthday’s this week, Nephew Alex will celebrate the big 15 on the 23rd and what a special guy he is. Hope you have a great birthday Alex!!!!
Last night I went to my grandson Todd’s football game in Titusville. They won and of course he was a star as always! Last week Merritt Island had it’s homecoming game and of course the homecoming dance. (this is the week for pictures) and here he is in all his glory with his date.
Isn’t he handsome! Don’t tell him I said that.
Well I guess I had better get ready for work, hope that you all have a wonderful week and please make sure that you are good to you! Let me hear from you!
Lots of Lovea (aa) Mom
