October 13, 2007

Good morning all hope this has been a great week for you. I arrived back home yesterday. When I left New Hampshire it was rainy and cool and arrived here to 90 degree’s and lots of sunshine. Again let me say I had a wonderful three weeks. The weather was great and the temperatures were wonderful. My last two days were rainy and it looked like it could have snowed any time so it was time to come home.

I took some wonderful pictures BUT my camera is old and one whole disk that I took did not come out. It really made me sick because I really wanted to show you the beauty that I seen. I am not really sure if it is the camera or my computer and I couldn’t check them at the time I am the only one that I know that still has a 3 ½ size disk on their computer. But when I put it in there was nothing there.

I took some beautiful pictures of an apple orchard that the trees were just loaded with bright red apples. That may not be much to most of you but to some of us it is not something we see all the time. I will share some that came out but they really don’t show the beauty of the whole area. I guess it is time for a new camera/new computer.

Dad tells me that Uncle Gib fell and thankfully didn’t break anything but he is pretty sore. Hope you will be feeling great again soon Uncle Gib.

One of the pictures I really regret not getting was a sign on a store half way between nowhere and somewhere on the back roads of Maine. It was a little store and it had a big sign on the front depicting that they carried everything from soups to nuts. The sign said (and I know you would have to see it to believe it) in big letters top line GUNS second line said WEDDING GOWNS and the third line said BEER. It is one of those signs you would have to see to believe.

Well I guess you all know that now Canadian money is worth more than ours and believe me they are taking advantage of it. The lines to go and return to Canada are miles long. Sister Joyce was telling me how expensive their poultry is in Canada and they come over to the states to buy their groceries.

I grew up next to the Canadian border and I don’t believe I knew that they had a separate Thanksgiving than we do. While we are celebrating Columbus Day they are celebrating Thanksgiving. I mention that because most of the traffic (I am guessing) was to come over here and buy their Thanksgiving supplies. We went to St. Andrews (beautiful place by the shore in Canada) for lunch on Monday. The special for the day was Thanksgiving Dinner for $20.95. My sister and her husband say it is good for our economy or at least the state of Maine but somehow I wonder.

It certainly looks to me like we have problems on all our borders. Sorry Blair but I don’t think you have that much of a problem crossing at the Fort do you? Sorry that we did not get to see you and your wife while we were there. It was a quick trip to see Aunt Ruby. Have you seen her?

I was really tired when I got home last night but went to my Grandson’s football game anyway. The team lost but he did great as always. Got to get busy this week and do some more of my shirts for the remainder of the football games this year.
Not too much news this week, again I want to Thank every one that was my host on the trip. Especially Helen she was great! I am so fortunate to have such great sisters; all of them are talented in so many ways. Haven’t found mine as yet but I am still looking for it.

Hope that you all have a wonderful week and please make sure that you are good to you! Let me hear from you!

Lots of Lovea (aa) Mom
