October 6, 2007

Good morning all hope this has been a great week for you. The weather here in Maine has been wonderful. Some cool nights but it has been between the high 60's and the high 70's in fact the last couple of days it has been in the high 70's.

I have seen some beautiful scenery as well as doing my leaf peeping. Everywhere I have been they have been just great to me such wonderful host.I forgot to mention last week while we were in Jersey we went to Morristown to visit the Ford house. I had been there before but still found it interesting.

It is the house that Washington spent the winter of 1779 in. It was a mansion at the time but there were upward of 30 some people that stayed there that winter so I am sure it didn't seem so big at the time. We also went to Jockey Hollow where the troops spent the winter which is five miles away.

They certainly didn't have it as good as old George but he didn't have it great either but they were outside mostly and it was the coldest year that winter in a hundred year period.

We also went to the movies while we were at Judy's want to tell you in case you think you want to see Good Luck Chuck you won't. Can't recommend it:) Also seen Game Plan at Helen's and it is a cute movie.

Helen and I left Judy's on Sat and she even let me drive for about 50 or so miles. I guess that was because she didn't want me to forget how to :). We arrived at niece Liz and her husband Riks about 6:30 and they had dinner waiting for us. As usually we had a great meal and they are always wonderful host.

We left for Winslow on Sunday and on the way we stopped in Freeport. A friend had told me about and impressive globe at a map place there and I wanted to see it. Well we drove up and down looking for it. From what he told me I expected this huge globe of the earth outside the building turning and that is why we missed it. We finally stopped and asked and we were right across from it. It is inside the building and it is huge.

From the info that we got it is the largest rotating globe in the world, it weights 5600 pounds and it is called Eartha. It is impressive to see so if you have not been there and are ever in Freeport, Maine you get off the first exit for Freeport and it is right across from the visitor's center. It is worth the stop. Thanks Mike!

On Tuesday Helen and I ventured to Wiscassett, Me to meet my nephew Rand for lunch. He is on the sheriff department in Lincoln County, not the Sheriff but he is a busy man.

Poor guy couldn't even eat his lunch with out being brothered. But like he said everyone has a problem and they think it is important. It was great seeing him and he looks great!

Bill and Dad tell me we are getting a lot of rain at home. At least I don't have to worry about if my plants are getting watered, the ones on the outside that is.Stacey called me on Monday after her interview with United Space Alliance and told me that it went well. The job she has now is temporary and will run out soon.

On Wednesday she called me and the good news is she got the job. Now her next big deal is finding a new room mate. She has to move in December and certainly can't afford to rent by herself. So keep her in your prayers that she can continue to be and independent soul! The other good news is my brother-in-law Greg has been working out of Long Island at the National Park there and has just been transferred to the Edison National Park in West Orange, NJ. So he will be home! That is wonderful!

Don't think I mention that Sister Lana and Sheri was off to Rochester this last weekend to tend to Sheri mother. While they were there they picked NY delicious apples for Dad. He is so pleased he didn't know that NY had better apples than Washington did but now he knows that it is true. :)Want to wish a very happy birthday to niece Jess on the 12th...21 right Jess! Hope you have a wonderful day!

Then tomorrow my niece Liz and her husband will celebrate their anniversary. The very best to both of you on your special day!Pat is on his way to Michigan and he is using my GPS. I hear that it is working great for him.Yesterday, Helen, Joyce and I went up to my home town. Gosh it keeps getting smaller and smaller.

While we were there we went to visit my Aunt Ruby. She looks great but is still recouping from her fall. Please keep her and her family in your prayers.Well I guess I had better end this now, just want to say Thank You to all that have had me as a guest! It has been wonderful, such a shame I didn't appreciate the beauty of the place while I was growing up here. Time has just flown by and soon I will be back home.

Hope you have a wonderful week and please make sure that you are good to you!

Lots of Lovea (aa) Mom
