August 25, 2007

Good morning all hope that you have had a great week! It continues to be quite hot and humid here in Florida! My friend sent me a picture of her indoor/outdoor thermometer which shows that all though Maine has cooled off the sun was still shinny and it was beautiful! Sister Judy told me the other day it was 64 in NJ and she had her sweats on. Well believe me here in Florida the low is not even 64!

I keep trying to get something accomplished in my yard but believe me after 10 it is flat out hot out there. I do well to get everything watered. I am having problems with my sprinkler in the front. The water is going through the hose, but several of the sprinklers are not working. It is a sprinkler system I put in myself and I love it but you punch a hole in the hose and put the sprinkler in. I am not strong enough to pull them out and check them out; I had a heck of time when I put them in. Now I can’t use it because it only works on the end of the hose. I keep hoping my fairy godmother will come and fix it for me but I don’t think that she thinks it is as important as I do.

Last Saturday Dad and I went to dinner at Chowders and ate outside by the water. It was great we were in the shade and there was a nice breeze. Dad is doing really well, but I am thinking it is time for him to get someone to mow his lawn. He is still doing it but it wears him out. But talking him into that will be a major chore that is for sure.

Oh by the way I am not deaf, I just can’t hear things that people whisper or say in a very low voice. So there is hope for me yet, I talked to someone this week that had gotten the hearing aids for that and she said it doesn’t work, after spending all that money it magnify everything else but she did need that in the first place. So if you whisper to me and I say please say that again…you will know what I am talking about J

Endeavor landed on Tuesday and I was there to greet it! What a beautiful landing it was. I know a lot of people were quite concerned about their return because of the damage but believe me this is not something unusual and they knew they would be fine. It was very hot at the Shuttle Landing Facility and everyone wanted to be in the shade, believe me when I say there isn’t much shade out there.

Birthday’s we have Birthday’s we sure do! Please join me in wishing the very best of birthdays to a dear friend Michael Andrea his birthday was yesterday, David Garth will celebrate on the 28th, Garrett Morar will be 13 (a big teenager now) on the 29th and Rik Michaud will celebrate on the 31st! Hope you all have a wonderful Birthday! One anniversary in the family that I know of and that is Gloria and Don will celebrate their anniversary on Sunday…the best of everything to you wonderful people!

Thanks to many of my friends (and my son) I now know how to put a picture on a shirt! Didn’t do my procrastination thing, got busy and went to the store and bought the transfer paper, got the shirts to find out my printer needs three new print heads! Dummy me, I looked at the test sheet and seen two that I knew that had to be replaced but didn’t read the sheet. It said three, so now I have the two new ones and it prints better but everything is red. So now I have to get busy and order the other one I need. Gosh, I get so angry at myself when I hurry for something…but I guess that is the nature of the beast. If I ever get one finished I will send a picture to prove I have it done.

Last Monday evening I attended a Local Planning Agency meeting in Viera. It lasted 20 minutes; it takes longer to get there than the meeting lasted!

Yesterday was Baxley Manor Day! They are always so grateful when we come; I just wonder how many other seniors out there are struggling from month to month. A man I use to work with called me last week to see if one of his (he is a scout leader) who is going for his Eagle badge could take on Baxley for a month to get the things they need. Of course I said yes, I never turn down anything that is offered for Baxley. It will be interesting to see how well he does collecting the items. It is a little different from most food drives because they are senior and bigger is not always better for them.

Poor Bill is still having trouble with his mouth, but we finally got permission for him to go to an outside dentist. Those polyps in his mouth are all calcium deposits and they have to be removed. OUCH! It has been so long since he has had steak (because of the lost of his teeth) that yesterday when he went to the store he bought those minute steaks and asked me to cook them rare….:) Well that is another story.

Well Todd had his first football game as a senior last night, not sure what happened but I am sure he was a star. Since it was an away game I did not go…got one more week!

Hope that you all have a great week and all goes well for you!

Lots of Love
a (aa) Mom & ~g~
