Good morning all hope that you have had a great week! The weather here has been HOT and believe me I feel it. I went out yesterday and work in the yard and the sweat was just pouring out of me. So I ran and jumped in the pool hoping to get cooled off and the pool water was like warm tap water….not to refreshing but it was better than nothing.
I have been talking about maybe going up north again in Oct. Love to see all the tree changes. I have to share something I found out this week. You may already know it but do you know what they call people that go in the fall to see the leaves? They call them Leaf Peepers! I never knew that, all you have to do is put it in your search and a bunch of stuff comes up. As fall gets closer there are even photos of the change. You learn something everyday!
Just to update you on nephew Rand, he and another deputy were out looking for poachers. In Maine it is not illegal to put out unmarked nets in the water to catch fish. (It is here in Florida) They were on their way back in when they hit one of those nets. The other guy fell in the water and Rand was thrown over the windshield. It was very scary at first we thought that he had been badly hurt but thanks to everyone’s prayers it turn out not to be so. He was cut up and his shoulder still hurts him but thankfully he is on his way to being himself again. Thanks again for your prayers!
I bought this beautiful candle at Knock on Wood in Calais for my friend Bet. When I unloaded the car, the candle had melted…I was just sick.
Sister Helen is off again soon to visit her son and family in NM. Both Dean and Garret will celebrate birthday during her visit.
Got a call this week from the Gallop Poll, first time I have heard of them for years. They asked me all kinds of questions from my political view to if I have ever been left a large sum of money, it lasted for about 45 minutes and I found it very interesting.
The only Birthday we have this week is brother in law Jeff who will celebrate tomorrow. Want to wish you the very best of Birthdays to a very special brother!
I worked most of the week at the Press Site for launch. Really enjoyed it there are great people who work out there. There were people representing Ames, Boeing, HQ and they were very informative and it was a learning experience. As I am sure you have all heard we had a very successful launch on Wednesday. It should return home on the 22 of August. I also got to have lunch with Stacey one day while I was out there.
On Monday I had a Planning and Zoning meeting in Viera. Nothing to different than normal. But did learn while I was off the board they had to cancel a meeting because they didn’t have a quorum. On Thursday evening I had a North Merritt Island P&Z meeting, which turned out to be very interesting. The gentleman has 13 plus acres and he wants to put 10 houses on it. The problem is the area is very wet so although he was asking for one acre lots none of them would be that because of the wetlands. As the zoning stands right now he can build five houses. The adjacent property owners we concerned about the water, traffic and so forth but I was starting to feel sorry for the gentleman he does have a right to develop his property when he mentioned that Perdue was looking for a place to have chickens in Florida, and maybe if we didn’t give him his zoning that is what he would do…plus he could have 10 pigs. That is where he lost my vote and I told him so. Don’t know why they feel it is necessary to say those things.
I have been having problems with my AOL mail. I get the mail and it shows that it is there……..but it doesn’t tell me who is sending it and what the subject is. Lana and her friend Sherri came over to work on it Thursday. Sherri is very good at computers but after many hours of working on it she still hadn’t figured it out. Talk to Lana yesterday and she said that they would be back on Thursday and I asked for them to come sooner…hopefully they will come tomorrow and figure out what is wrong. I can go on Internet Express and see what my mail is, but it won’t let me down load anything, just read the mail. AOL won’t let me down load anything either. I have some great things I want to share with people (launch pictures) but they will just have to sit there until it gets figured out.
I got a note from Gloria saying that Aunt Ruby is on her way to recovery. She said it is a slow process but she is doing better. Gloria has just returned from a visit with her Mom.
Hope that you all have a great week, mine is shapping up to be a fairly busy one. See ya all next week!
Lots of Love
a (aa) Mom & ~g~
