April 28, 2007

Good morning all hope that you have had a great week, as far as the weather here in Florida is concerned it has been great sunny days and the temp has been reasonable. Although we surely need rain badly if I don’t water my flowers every other day I am sure I will lose them.

Well as you all know, I had some problems with my computer. It was the strangest thing I shut it off and went to my meeting and when I returned it was dead.

It just made me sick, don’t know about you but I use my computer for so many things for the next week I went crazy I keep all my phone number’s, addresses on my computer as well as all my appointments. I use it as a dictionary, as well as for other research and I was lost!

Son Pat came over on Sunday with his little tool kit and I was dreading that I had done something stupid that had made it shut down like that but to no avail, he tried everything he knew and could not fix it. Grandson Todd had suggested the Greek Squad at Best Buy to look it over and so did Pat.
So off we went to Melbourne with my CPU in tow, with high hopes that they could fix it. They hooked it up and within seconds told us that the mother board was fried and it would cost upwards of $400 to fix it. Suggested we get a new computer.

Well needless to say that put me in deep depression and of course it wasn’t a secret from my family. I am normally a bubbly person but I certainly wasn’t then. (I lie a little) Anyway, Sister Lana called me on Monday and she thought that her friend Shari could fix the computer could she come and get it. Of course I told her she could because what could I do with it? I just couldn’t decide if I should get a new one yet, although I was suffering I wasn’t ready to give in.

I talked to Shari on Tuesday and she told me she thought that it was the power supply and by Wednesday afternoon she had confirmed that was the problem and replaced it. She told me she had done research on my particular model on line and that there were a lot of people that had the same problem and was giving the same advice by their service people. She did a spectacular job and I am so grateful to her. Doesn’t it make you wonder how many other people just went out and bought a computer when they had that problem?

I know nothing about my computer, all I know I want it to work. You can be sure if I have another problem with it, she will be the first one I call! Thanks again Shari, I really appreciate it as well as my family they were not liking me very much.

Enough of that, last week friend Bet and I went out to work to meet another friend we had worked with for lunch, hadn’t seen Kari for quite some time. While I was checking out in the food line I looked up and you will never guess who I seen? My Stacey, she was just coming for lunch. It was wonderful to see her plus the fact I got to introduce her to my friends who have heard lots and lots about her but never met her.

Granddaughter Krista attended the prom with her boy friend Torey last week. (pictured right) Of course she looked beautiful and he was handsome.

Was so sorry I missed seeing David, Joanna, Bud and family this week. Another reason I was so moody was not only did I have my allergy problem I got a sinus infection and I was not in great shape.
But hopefully one of these weeks we can arrange for us to go over and visit with Bud, Lodema and the whole family. If the good Lord is willing I will be seeing David and Joanna this summer on my trip, and it looks like maybe Diana will be with me.

So sorry I missed Birthday’s last week, Lynn celebrated on the 22and and she said it was a great birthday. My Diana celebrated on Thursday of this week so happy belated Birthday’s to you both!

Got several responses about the gas prices and from those that responded gas is certainly more expensive here in Florida. I can see by the time I take my trip up north it will be $3.00 a gal.

My son Pat has set up a blog for my just chatting, I know he sent it to many of you, not really sure what is suppose to do…but you can find it at http://momjustchatting.blogspot.com/

Last week I attended several meetings, but got to say the most interesting one was the NASA Alumni meeting. We had the young people from local schools with their Robotic demonstration. It is amazing what they can make those robots do and they did it all themselves. This particular group won second in the nation (or the world, I don’t remember) in their competition.

Friend Bet has given more wonderful flowers but the most interesting one was a split rock cactus. Have you ever seen one? She got it at Target and it looks like little stones that crack and make more cacti. I am fascinated by it, I am anxious to see it grow.

Dad is doing well; he is still mowing his yard and doing all of his own house work. We are all real happy that Sister Helen will be coming next week for a visit. Always look forward to any of my sister visits, they are all so special. Sister Joyce had her other cataract removed this last week and she is doing well.

Watched the movie Pride and Prejudice and it really has my mind flowing about how things were back in the 17th and 18th century. I can not believe that women had it so bad back then, we really don’t really think how wonderful we have it now. Anyway it has gotten me interested in that era and want to read more about it. Nephew Kyle is going to put the book itself on a disk for me (I am sure I read it a hundred years ago, just can’t remember doing so) So I guess I will be going to the library soon to gather some books on the women of that time. Great movie by the way, several movies made with the same title, I am sure you would enjoy any of them.

Talking about movies, friend Karen has set me up with about ten movies usually that is sister Lana’s job but I think I have seen just about all of her’s. One of the movies she lent me was Sense and Sensibility…another Jane Austin book.

Well I think I have made up for last week, this sure looks long enough J Hope that you all have a great week! And stay healthy!

Lots of Love
a (aa) Mom & ~g~
