Good morning hope that you had a great week! How was your Easter? Mine was wonderful, I went down and picked up donut holes from the local donut shop at 4:30a.m. and was at the church at 4:45a.m or close to that and made the drinks. Since I was early (which I hate to admit, is not something that I do often, be as early that it is). I got to help with different things to prepare for the sunrise service, which was very beautiful by the way.
I spent most of the day just killing time. I stopped over to Diana’s for awhile which was great. I got to see not only Diana but my grandchildren. Always great to see them, it is something, we live in the same town but our paths hardly ever meet.
The weather here turned cooler last Saturday in fact I am not sure if it hit 70 or not, but it was a beautiful day and so was Sunday. Then the rains came for a few days and it has heated back up to the 80’s. Not that I am complaining yet, but it is really getting warm. Not warm enough for Bill though he is still wearing his jacket, flannel shirt and t-shirt.
This was the week for my planning and zoning meetings. It started on Monday at Viera. The one item that sticks to my mind is they wanted to put a billiard place right in the middle of professional offices. They wanted to be able to sell hard liquor as well as food. They opened at 11a.m. and would close at 2a.m. Now on the out skirts are dentist offices, homes, etc.
Thankfully I was successful in convincing the board that it was not compatible to the area. The vote certainly was not unanimous but I was convincing enough to have it denied. There are plenty of empty buildings on the main though fare that it could go into, but I won’t get on my high horse about it, but I was pleased.
Also on Monday, Sister Joyce has the first of her cataracts done. All went well, the next one is scheduled soon and she will be pleased to have that all behind her.
On Wednesday morning a friend of mine and I met with the Commissioner about the study that was done on State Road 3. We met for two years setting up boundaries of what should or should not be built on that road. Thankfully the Commissioner agreed with us and we found out that it had been approved by the previous commission and then he just sat on it. So hopefully now it will get moved on to the state and be approved!
On Wednesday afternoon, Bill and I went to Orlando for his visit to the VA for his skin cancer. I can not get over the fact we went 60 miles and it took us about an hour and forty five minutes.
When you hit 520 going into Orlando it is just stop and go traffic. His visit was at three and we were on our way back home by 3:30. Talked to a friend of mine that told me she could tell me a better and quicker way to go so next time I will try that! His next appointment is for the 26th but he is not happy with that date so I think he is going to change it.
On Thursday I had lunch with Karen another birthday lunch and as always it was great, we solved all the problems of the US as well as our county but no one seems to listen to us.
Thursday evening I had another zoning meeting, a gentleman with 19 ½ acres wanted to change his zoning from Agriculture to Rural Residential. With the zoning he has now he can have 6 houses but if it was changed to RR he could have 19. I must mention his 19 ½ acres are in a swamp, on a dirt road, and no city water or sewage. I guess I don’t have to tell you the man didn't have a chance with his zoning.
Well one of the local charter school is in financial problems so the school system has hired one of my retired friends back to work out to figure out the mess. When she told me all I could think of was Super Man he can do the job! Elaine is our Treasurer at church so she will truly have her hand full now!
Dear Nancy had a car accident on the way to work. It was stop and go traffic and she should have stop and she didn't. Guess you get the idea. She had only had her car for two weeks; there was no damage to the vehicle she hit, thank goodness! But it really did a number on her car. Not only that (I am sure she would kill me if she knew I was telling you) she had just dropped her rental car insurance and raised the deducible on the car. To this one has really hit her hard financially, but thankfully she/no one was hurt!
Dad had a pretty full week, Diana went down on Sunday and they had a nice visit, then on Monday Nancy went down to cut his hair. Dad always tells me she knows just when to come and I guess it was time he has so much hair. He has mowed his back lawn and got yard work done as well as doing his house work. He really does well for his age and we are all very proud of him. He is riding his bike so you can see he gets lots of exercise.
Last week we went to Uno’s for dinner and I think this week we will do Chowders, the weather is great and we can sit outside.
We have two birthday's this week, my daughter Dawn will celebrate her birthday on Thursday the 19th. Want to wish her the very best of birthday's. Then on the 20th we have a very special birthday, my brother-in-law Jeff Mother will celebrate her 92nd birthday! Alice we wish you many many more!
How are the gas prices in your area? I would really be curious to find out how much it is costing you. I filled up on Friday and it was $2.84 here.
The flowers in my yard are doing great, we certainly needed the rain and they are all sitting up and taking notice! My allegories are driving me crazy; I say it is the oak, pine and quite possibly the fruit trees. Bill seems to think it is my flowers. It is the craziest thing I have never had it before, but I can’t tell which I prefer the runny nose or the dirt in the eye’s!
It is so great, I hear from Sue each week and she keeps me up on the family, why haven’t I heard from you? I would love to know what is going on in your life.
David and Joanna are coming to Florida on the 19th, hopefully I will get to see them. They are planning to stay at Bud’s for few days and I hope to visit them there. Bud you need to send me directions please, and remember I can get lost very easy!
Have a great week!
Lots of love,
a (aa) Mom & ~g~
