February 24, 2007

Well, what a week this has been for me, hope all is well with you! The weather here has been fantastic, in the high 50’s at night and in the high 70’s low 80 in the daytime. Certainly can’t complain about that! It is a perfect time to get outside and get things done but I have been rather busy this week as you will see with the following.

Dad and I decided to have a good old fashion Italian sub for dinner last week so we just stayed in and enjoyed each other’s company. He is doing well and still keeps going like his was in his 60’s but then I am in my 60’s and sometimes I don’t think I have as much energy has he does! J

On Sunday I just had a relaxing day, went to Church and made the drinks at 6, returned for services 8 then just sit around for the rest of the day

On Monday I hit the ground a running at my 6 months check up with my general practitioner at 8. He gave me great news, everything is just fine with me, and including my cholesterol count was terrific! You know it is a funny thing if I am so fine, why can’t I come back once a year? It could be my good company while I am there don’t you think? J

Sister Joyce arrived on Monday evening and it was great to see her! She was supposed to arrive in Orlando at 6:30 but her flight didn’t leave Philly until about 5 or so. She arrived here at 8:30 or so, but the big treat besides Joyce being here was her daughter Liz was also her with her job. So we had dinner at the Hyatt and had a great time. I took Joyce to Dad’s and headed home, finally hit the bed about 1:30.

On Tuesday I had to go back out to the Center for my badge, the one I have already told you about came back with a red flag on it. I got out there about 9 and waited until 10:30 before I spoke up that I had to be at another meeting. My red flag was I had spelled Mirah and realized that it needed another a and put it in. Well when I did that I didn’t initial and date it. After that I was off to Cocoa Beach to the NASA Alumni meeting. We had a great speaker, she was a professor at the University of Central Fl. She is recreating a virtual Cocoa Beach as well as the launch sites in the early 60’s. It was amazing to see.

Then on Wednesday I had a real treat! My sisters Joyce and Judy paid for me to have a message and a facial. Diana went because her children and Nancy gave her a day of beauty for Christmas and Joyce got the same package. It was my first message ever and if you have never had one I highly recommend it. The only thing I didn’t really like about it was the oils that they put on. You felt so greasy afterwards but it still was delightful. I loved my facial it was really great, if I could afford it I would have it done once a month!

On Thursday, I had made an appointment with the Assistant County Manager to discuss some problems that the church was having with the new building site. It seems when the contractor went to have a review of the plans the County had big problems with it. For instance they want us (the Church) to give them the right away in front of the Church, as well as putting in a sidewalk the whole length of the property. Anyway the total package that the county wanted was light $32,000. We are having difficulty raising the money for this 1600 sq ft addition at a cost of $225,000 let alone adding more cost to it (the sidewalk was $20,000) I asked my friend Karen to go with us, she really knows her stuff! I thought I was good but she was better prepared than I was. So here we were Fr. Roberts, Tom McFarland and I representing the Church but Karen’s questions were right on the line and she made a good presentation to a dear friend with the County. (I have always said it isn’t what you know but who you know) Sometimes it works out! Anyway the presentation went well and he promised to get back with me soon! Sure hope that it all works out, Fr. Roberts is very concerned about it! The good news is the gentleman called me yesterday and it looks like we can at least work out the sidewalk by promising we will put it in when the adjacent properties are developed and sidewalks go in. In fact the county is willing to work with us on most of the items. So that is good news!

On Thursday evening I met with my old NASA buddies for dinner! It was great; it is always so nice when we get together. My friend Betty’s husband is doing so well, want to thank you for your prayers.

Joyce came up yesterday and after dinner we went to the movies to see Music and Lyrics with Hugh Grant and Drew Barrymore. We both enjoyed it, it was quite funny. Afterwards we met with Diana and Dan and the gang and Nancy for something to eat. Wonderful evening!

Hope all is well with you, Linda had some hip surgery and I hear that is going well. Hope spring will come to you soon, have a wonderful week. Please take good care of yourself!

Lots of Love,
a (aa) Mom & ~g~
