Not too much to say this week but to catch you up on my side of what happened. I know that I have been extremely busy this last two weeks, working the FEW conference, working the launch, attending meetings as well as taking Bill back and forth to the Dr but I felt fine, a little tired but other than that I was great.
This thing hit me Wednesday evening, started out like I was getting a sore throat, then that went away and I just felt tired. It was so bad that I had to force myself to call the Dr on Thursday because I just wanted to sleep. On Friday the desire to do anything was gone all together but made myself go to the Dr. No he did not suggest that I go to the hospital but said if I didn’t notice and improvement I should go to the emergency room.
I know they said that I had pneumonia and I am sure I did but I certainly had something else also. I forced myself to feed the dog and had pretty much talked myself out of taking my meds. I just wanted to be left alone, break a fever right? Well thank God that he works in mysterious ways because when the girls called I said I was fine but they insisted on coming. The rest of that story you know if they hadn’t taken me when they did likely this life as I know it would have been over for me.
Before I go into the next part of the horror story I would like to give you a little bit of info I received my virus shot in Sept. from what I have found out bad timing on my part it was the weakest virus that that gave out and soon wore out. But how are you going to know these things? The other is you may get a pneumonia shot but it is only for one strain of the virus and they are many so if you are lucky enough to come up against that one you are fine but forget about the others they will get you. You only need one shot for it every five years unlike the virus they keep changing the virus strain but not with the pneumonia shot.
I have a hospital that I normally go to but in the last year my heart dr. practice has quit going there he is a great Dr. and I don’t want to lose him. So when the decision was made to go to this other hospital it was manly for that reason. Got to say that they were right on the ball in the emergency room and they were great. Then they moved me to ICU, which was also great didn’t like being there but when you felt like I did you really appreciate great service.
They moved me down to the forth floor where they were understaffed and going crazy. Got to tell you the only funny thing that happen was I had this Indian nurse who really didn’t understand my humor, would you believe she wrote me up for harassing her in a fun way!
(Smile).
I never got my med’s when I was suppose to and certainly no washing up. If it had not been for Lana I would never got washed up. Then the fun began when they admitted a woman in the next bed that had fallen at work and they said that she had pneumonia. The first night was quiet and all went well but you know you can’t sleep in the hospital there was more activity at night in that room than there was in the day time. She has three young children and her husband called and wanted her to come home. She told him the Dr. said that she could not be released as yet she needed to stay another day.
Well that wouldn’t do for him up to the hospital he came with one of those young children in tow. Stocking up in down in the room in front of my bed telling her she had to come home. He was great with the word “I” I have this double wide bed at home you could be laying there with “YOUR” children getting better. She mention the insurance and he said he didn’t care he came in this world owing and would leave it owing she had to sign her self out and come home so she could be with her children! As you know I am not much for keeping my mouth shut so this was very difficult for me. This went on for a couple hours until she signed herself out like he wanted and followed him out the door with smile on her face like she was doing the right thing! She will be in my thoughts and prayers for along time!
Remember I am still quite sick at this point, so my little Indian nurse gave me my pills and closed the door so I could get some rest. I may have slept about and hour when the door busted open in the room with all the lights on. Two supervisors were having some problems with someone and they were going to put her in here. Not that they were talking to me or if they even cared that I was there. I swear I felt like I was in an Ozark movie or something…they took out that bed bought back a women in another bed, with this lady (friend of the new room mate) was running in and out and moving furniture around. It seems that they had been in an other room and (the friend) was going to sleep in a chair in there.
The woman in the room did not want this and told the supervisor who in turn told the lady she could not stay. That is when all hell broke lose. This started at about 11 and continued way into the night. The lady moved in stuff you would not believe, even had suite cases. I tell you it had me scared to death, they kept calling each other and it got worse. At 5 in the morning I was sitting on the side of the bed and one of those same supervisors came in and asked me if there was a reason I couldn’t sleep! As if I was going to tell her what she didn’t know what was going on. By late afternoon the next day I was back to my rapid heart beat again and they moved me to the heart care unit to be under watch.
I can honestly say that no one should be in the hospital alone, especially if you can’t speak up for yourself. This has been one of the most awful things that have happened to my life. I never seen my Dr. but seen a network of Dr. who when it came right down to it would not release me with out my cardiologist doing it. And he was thrown into the mess but as I said before I am now on my way back and on the proper meds and lots of wonderful family and friends who have been and are there for me. But I wouldn’t want to wish this on anyone it was a nightmare!
Helen is going to become a grandmother again. Her granddaughter April is expecting soon. My sisters and I were invited to her shower but doing the distance (CA) we decided to send a gift in stead. We all chipped in and got her BABYBJORN Baby Carrier Air - Gray & White. Not real sure what it is but some kind of carrier I am sure it will come in handy.
I am so sorry I missed your birthday Stephanie on the 15th, hope it was a happy one!! I also missed Dean and Jerri Anniversary on the 16th, time sure flies by. Hope it was a great day for all!
Bill is going to have his cataract surgery on Tuesday. We went for the review of the test of Wed, and all is fine. I am sure he will be happy to see normal again.
Want to share this photo that my friend Letty from my home town sent me…I am sure that it is just a little more snow that she wants…
I would love to thank everyone for the beautiful flowers, all the cards and phone calls and especially for the blue house coat. You are wonderful and certainly have made me feel needed and not in a rush to go anywhere soon. I have to especially thank my daughters for saving my life…Hope every one has a wonderful Easter weekend ever and remember please take good care of you!
Lots of Love
