Good morning all hope that you have had and uneventful week and all is well with you! How is the weather where you are? We have finally gotten some much needed rain, in fact on Wednesday it rained all day. But things are different here in Florida, Dad got very little and he only lives 40 minutes away from me. The weeds are growing well and I certainly will have my hands full pulling them when I get back from my leaf peeping vacation!
As I mentioned last week I participated in the local beach clean up. You can not believe the trash that was picked up. I can see that most people (well hopefully not most) just throw their stuff on the ground. Tons of stuff was picked up and a lot of ROTC’s participated in the clean up.
Last Saturday Dad and I were scheduled to attend the Maine Connection. They had not met during the summer or should I say we did not attend during the summer. They met at a new place in Melbourne that Dad and I had not been to before and it was easy to see that Dad did not like it. It was a Chinese buffet and we went in and left immediately. Shortest meeting I have ever attended! I did get a note from the leader who said that they voted and next month they will be back at their old meeting place. But of course that did not hinder us from having lunch. Dad loves the Ruben sandwiches at Bennigan's, so we ate there.
Got a note from Carla saying that there was some improvement with Aunt Ruby health. Please keep Aunt Ruby and her family in your prayers.
Dad has had some problems with ticks on Cisco. He has asked his neighbors and none of them seem to have his problem. But when Diana went down last week to give Cisco a bath she found over 30 on him and advised Dad he should have the yard and house sprayed. He was reluctant to do it because he knew of no particular company that does it. But after his research came up with one and had them spray this week. Cisco is one special dog and he certainly didn’t want him to get sick. It was expensive to say the least and now we will wait to see if it works. But the funny thing is Dad didn’t realize that he would have to leave the house for a while starting of course when they sprayed. You will never guess what he did? Sister Lana lives a couple of blocks from him but she works nights. So off he went to Lana’s and sit on her front porch for four hours. She didn’t know he was there. Scary isn’t it?
Want to wish Elaine a very happy birthday on the 25th, she is a dear friend and I hope she has a great one. Then of course on the 26th my wonderful, super-fantastic, baby boy Patrick will celebrate his birthday. Wish I could say that he will be 21, but if you double that you will be right on target!! Have the happiest of Birthdays dear Pat!
On Monday I attended my Local Planning Agency meeting in Viera. It was a strange meeting; I would guess there were about 100 people there and the applicant asked for a delay. So we all traveled there to hear the delay and table it until November. I felt so bad for those folks that had come to the meeting, to just be turned around to go home.
On Sunday I met with old friends from work for dinner at Norman’s in New Smyrna Beach . As always it was very enjoyable and we got to catch up with what was going on in each other’s lives. It was great!
The part that was not so great on Sunday was as I turned on the road my car told me to check my tire pressure which I did and there was none in my left rear tire, so I got out and sure enough it was flat! Had to call AAA and they came out and changed it at 9:30 at night. I had a screw in it! Was suppose to take Bill to the VA in Orlando but he had to go alone and I had to get the tire fixed. I went to Goodyear and guess what they told me? That the tire was unrepairable, but they did not have a tire to replace it. So off I went to BJ’s to get a new tire. After spending $130 for a new tire the guy told me he could have repaired the old one! Can you believe that? Never know who to trust now a days!
On Thursday they put the new part in the car and I completely forgot my meeting that I had at 6. Gosh I felt bad when they called to see if I was coming. My brain was certainly not working at that point. I had to go out of here running I was 20 minutes late for the meeting and the big problem was they could not hear the item until I got there because the didn’t have a quorum! It must have been running in the star because about 10 minutes after I got there another member showed up and he had completely forgotten also. Of all my years in sitting on the board that is the first and I hope the last time I do that!
Yesterday was a busy day for me, it was Baxley Day. On Thursday I went up to work and picked up the stuff that they had (got to say it works better when Sandra is at work). But she is in Washington State and we had to survive without her. We didn’t do very well with collection but thank the Lord we had enough money from past months to make a decent delivery. Lori and Jan always do a good job with that.
After that I was off to get beautified for my trip to Maine, hair done nails and a pedicure. I will be ready.
Sorry I am late getting this out this morning but last night I attended Todd’s football game in Daytona. The team didn’t do very well (they lost 34-14) but Todd as always was a star! I don’t really think that the team is as good as they were in the past but what do I know about football. I just know that Todd plays his heart out and does very well. Anyway I didn’t get home until after 11 and as you all know that is way after my bedtime.
Dan leaves tomorrow for Arkansas for his six month check up. Please keep him in your prayers.
Well I leave Monday for my vacation in New England. I am really looking forward to seeing the change of colors and the cooler weather. It will be difficult in some respects because I have always been the driver and this time I will be a rider. But I am sure that all will turn out well. If I am coming your way I will see you soon, if not please take good care of yourself and I will try to get a note out to you on my travels while I am away.
Lots of Love
a (aa) Mom & ~g~
