Janurary 6, 2007

Good morning everyone, hope you had a stress free week! The weather here has been quite gloomy, keeps looking like rain but so far we haven’t got enough to mention. Keeps reminding me of days when I grew up in the north when we just knew that snow was coming. Of course not all the days have been gloomy, but still gloomy most days.

Really another boring week so I really don’t have much to say. I
got lots of work done in the yard, and it is really looking up thank goodness! Guess you could say I am starting a poinsettia farm J I have four of the old plants of which I have repotted three, they really look pitiful. One has absolutely no leaves on it at all but it has green stems so I am hoping that I can save it. I also repotted the two new ones that I got for Christmas, one is white and I don’t have any luck with the white ones at all! Have you ever tried to grow them? There was a big article in the paper some months back on them and it said that they are the biggest throw away plants that there is.

I know everyone should be able to develop their property, but there are about 40 or so acres close to us that they have let the orange trees die. About a week ago they were surveying there. Now they are removing all the dead trees. It makes me sick because the road is hardly wide enough for two vehicles to pass let alone a dump truck and a school bus. For those of you that have not been to my house the road is narrow and quite winding. It was an old orange grove road. I have seen many vehicles in the ditches, and lives have been lost on that road. So I can see it isn’t going to be and easy year for me because even one unit per acre, would estimate about 2.5 cars on that road….Oh me…..

Judy is slowly recuperating from her Diverticulitis and is doing well. With this episode I found that all my sisters has some degree of it except me, and I am not going to say a word!

Sister Joyce got a very nice present, she got a new car! Which is great, I think I will be buried in the one I have J Not that it is that old it is just a feeling I have.

Dad’s leg continues to do well, he has another spot that will have to be removed and Dad thinks the Dr. will make the decision when the next time he goes to see him. Dad is changing his own bandages now so Lana gets a break. Went down last Saturday and had a real treat Nephew William joined us for dinner. He is really maturing and is working hard to better himself. It was great seeing him if only for a short time.

Cousin Carla sent me loads of pictures of their trip to Disney, and Universal Studio’s. They went to all the Disney parks and the young ones really enjoyed it as well as the older ones. Her hold family went children, as well as grand children. It is a great feeling having all your family around you! They returned home on the 24th and went straight to Aunt Ruby’s to celebrate Christmas with her.

It is my tradition that every year the Christmas tree is put up and taken down by my Grandchildren, before that it was my children. Krista and her boyfriend came over and put it up and decorated it. They did a wonderful job! It is a beautiful artificial tree and it is just too heavy for me to handle (so now the tradition really serves a purpose). Well I waited all week for them to come and take it down. I had visions of leaving it up all year, and having a valentine tree, and Easter Tree, 4th of July tree, you get the picture. Just when I had given up on them Todd and Stacey showed up to take it down yesterday! I can not tell you how pleased I am. Of course I still don’t have my shrubs cut, but that is another day……

Nancy was up and at it early this morning, she came over to borrow my folding table. She and a couple of her friends are having a garage sale to raise money for a friend of theirs that has breast cancer.

Well I wish you the best in this new year and hope that you have a great week.

Lots of Love,
a (aa) Mom & ~g~
